What Is Love?

Love is basically 'a strong feeling of affection'. In our daily life, we associate love with some
feelings and emotions, but love is more than this. Love is patient, love is kind. It has no envy, nor it
boasts itself and it is never proud. It rejoices over the evil and is the truth seeker. Love protects;
preserves and hopes for the positive aspect of life. Always stand steadfast in love, not fall into it. It is
like the dream of your matter of affection coming true. Love can occur between two or more
individuals. It bonds them and connects them in a unified link of trust, intimacy and interdependence. It
enhances the relationship and comforts the soul. Love should be eperienced and not just felt. !he
depth of love can not be measured. Look at the relationship between a mother and a child. !he mother
loves the child unconditionally and it can not be measured at all. A different dimension can be attained
between any relationships with the magic of love. Love can be created.
Love Of Heathcliff And Catherine:
"atherine and #eathcliff$s feelings towards one another clout their minds to the point of
obsession, as their childhood relationship blossoms into something that neither one can handle.
!hroughout %uthering #eights, &mily 'ronte reminds of how their misfortunes, recklessness, and
destructive passions are all centered around their obsession for one another.
Love has become a religion in %uthering #eights, providing a shield against the fear of death
and the annihilation of personal identity or consciousness. !his use of love would eplain the
ineorable connection between love and death in the characters' speeches and actions. As "atherine
delivers many of the lines which have become synonymous with the work, such as her renowned
declaration of love for #eathcliff (
My love for Linton is like the foliage in the woods. Time will change it, I'm well aware, as
winter changes the trees my love for Heathcliff resembles the eternal rocks beneath a
sorce of little visible delight, bt necessary. !elly, I am Heathcliff he's always, always
in my mind not as a "leasre, any more than I am always a "leasre to myself bt as
my own being so, don't talk of or se"aration again it is im"racticable.#

In the above lines, there is shown the love between both heathcliff and "atherine .
the love of the both had to face many difficulties, barriers and opposition from the people.
As the writers throws light on(
%atherine and Heathcliff&s love bears the signs of the 'secret love& featred in many
great romantic tragedies sch as (omeo and )liet. In *olme +, %ha"ter $ !elly is
carrying a secret note from Heathcliff, who is waiting ot of sight in the garden. The
'"assing of love, notes& has been clich-d many times hereafter, inclded in novels to the
love of schoolchildren. However what is interesting abot the symbolism in this cha"ter is
that the carefl "lanning of Heathcliff&s visit dring a %hrch service sggests that the two
characters are se"arate from this niverse, and not tied down by the belief of an e.istence
in the afterlife. This "lays a ma/or "art in the storyline, as Heathcliff and %atherine&s
ghosts "lay their own "arts. 0fter s"eaking of their own idea of heaven, I believe the
choice of meeting s"eaks of the world in which %atherine and Heathcliff&s love can be left
ndistrbed, a world not of the world they are crrently in 1 a world only they can enter
once they are /oined after death.#

Love of Isabella Towards Heathcliff
!here is no doubt that Isabella's affection towards #eathclff is a sort of infatuation,
which can be named by a babyish love but attached with its own obsession. #er sentiments
is absolutely blind and unteachable. )he, in some respect, is provokingly silly enough to
deserve her foreseeing misery living in %uthering #eights and cruel treatments of
#eathcliff.

#eathcliff$s eventual marriage to Isabella is not a product of love, rather a
malicious act caused by his driving obsession for "atherine. #e precedes to ruin his poor
wife$s life, as well as stripps her of her entire inheritance. !he following actions that ensue
are increasingly malicious, as the reader sees the digression of #eathcliff, as he becomes a
madman driven more and more by his obsession for "atherine.
Love Triangle
In the end, love of both #eathcliff and "atherine wins. !he obsessive natures that
both #eathcliff and "atherine shared are interconnected. !heir love ran throughout the
story, as it effected almost all major characters. !heir obsession clouted their judgement,
ruined lives around them, and eventually caused death and suffering in the moors,
suffering that did not vanish with death, suffering that still haunts the #eights.
