The similarity between factors associated with child Download to citation manager abuse/neglect and those associated with language Citing Articles disability suggests that maltreated children are a Citing Articles via HighWire population at risk for language problems. This study Citing Articles via Google Scholar investigated the performance of three groups of Google Scholar abused/neglected children and a matched group of Articles by Fox, L. nonmaltreated subjects on three tests of language Articles by Langlois, A. comprehension. Results revealed significant differences Search for Related Content among groups for all measures. Severely neglected PubMed children obtained the lowest scores on all tests; the PubMed Citation abused children consistently obtained lower scores than Articles by Fox, L. the controls; and generally neglected children showed the Articles by Langlois, A. smallest difference in performance from the control group. These findings suggest a model for understanding relationships between abuse/neglect and language disability
