CONCLUSION 10. REFERENCE INTRODUCTION Virtual keyboard is just another example of todays computer trend of smaller and faster. Computing is now not limited to desktops and laptops, it has found its wa y into mobile devices like palm tops and even cell phones. But what has not change d for the last 50 or 80 odd years is the input device, the good old QWERTY keyboar d and the virtual keyboard technology is the latest development The new virtual keyboard technology uses sensor technology and artificial intelligence to let users work on any surface as if it were a keyboard. Virtual keyboard lets you easily create multilingual text content on almost any existing platform and output it directly to PDAs or even WebPages. Virtual keyboard being a small, handy, well designed and easy to use application, turns into perfect solu tion for cross platform multilingual text input. The main features are: platform independ ent multilingual support for keyboard text input, built in language layout and setti ngs, copy/paste etc. operation support just as in a regular text editor, already exis ting system language settings remain intact, easy and user friendly interface and des ign, and small file size.

PROJECTION KEYBOARDS The virtual keyboard deveopment has developed an IR light source, image projecti on unit amd a sensor to record hadmovementsin 3D .whenconbined these componets result in a projected keyboard which can be overlayed ona flat surface and then used as a stajndared keyboard, relaying storkes to the hand held device.the chipset is relatively smaller, and can be easily integratec using stndard se rial keyboardinterfaces. It ca n b e rapikly custmised to project keyboard in any form at or language. mobile and wireless devices have untethred business professionls from their offic e ,yet so much about mobile technology remains the legacy of desktop computing,so the virtual keyboard developers has been b demonstrating its technology .With important, new wirless applications emerging,a projection keyboard and mouse, ful ly integrated into a pocket sized mobile device, means that mobile professionls wil l finally be able to use these device as easily as thy would a desktop computer an d perhaps leave their laptops at home. Basically projection keyboard made lf light, which heralds an end to t he day of those working on the move having to lug around mumerous gadgets. This pockets sized device plugs into your hadheld and utilizes a three dimemsional .solid st ate, laser imaging system to project a full sized keyboard on any flat surface. The gadget uses tiny cameras to trcck where somebody is putting their fingersin relation to amap of a full sized keyboard , and from there transtlates that movement inot actual data whick is reflected on the hadheld device. Astndalone version of te keyboard woul d cost between us$100 and us$ 150 . It can alos do mouse fuctions so you get the ease of a full sized keyboard, but if appears any where you want to use it . the keyboard is made possible by a tiny sensor fitted with three chips. One to bean the keyboard image the other to pick up the movement of typing fingers .That typing movement interacts with the light and se nds signals to the sensor. VIRTUAL KEYBOARD TECHNOLOGY Virtual keyboard uses sensor technology and artificial intelligents to let user s work on any surface as it it were a keyboard.virtual device have developed a flashli ght seze gadget that projects an imagte of a keyboard on any surface and lets people input data by typing on the image. This system comprises of three modules 1. the sisor module 2. IR light source 3. The pattern projector VIRTUAL KEYBOARD SENSOR MODULE THE VIRTUAL KEYBOARD sensor module (sm- ck100) serves as the eyes of the virtual keyboards perception chipset and features patent_ pendin

g electronic perception technology .it includes an integrated lens that performs all necessar y filtering and focusing fuctions. Making it easy to integrate the module into a final product.woking in conjuction with the virtual keyboard light source, the sm-ck100 enables both keyboard data input and mouse fuctionality without the con fininig limitations of a physical form factor The device defects movement when fingers are pressed down . those movements are measured and the device accurately determines the intended keystrokes and transl ate them into text.ther is set of clips that fit into your had and try to sese the m otion of fingers and hands and translate them into keystrokes.the traslation process also uses artificial inteligece .onece the keystroke has been decoded.it is sent to the pa ortable device either by cable or viawirless. VIRTUAL KEYBOARD IRLIGHT SOURCE Virtual keyboard IR light soure (IR ck 100) plauys a critcal role in any virtu al keynoad perception chipset . implemetation nby enabling virtual keyboards patnte d electronic perception techbology . themodule collects the Irlaser diosde and all the associated ooptics into a single concise package, madeing it easiy to integerate into a final lproduct .theIRlight souce operates by emitting a beam of infraredlight .T hislight beam is designed to overlap the area onwhich the virtul keyboard pattern proje cter (pp- ck100) displays the keyboard layour so that users fingers are illuminated by the imfraredlight beam .thevirtualkeyboardsensormodule (sm-ck 100) detects thefinger movements and the typing activity is resolved into the appropriate keystrikers or mouse act VIRTUAL KEYBOARD PATTERN PROJECT The virtual keyboard patterm projector (pp-ck100) presents the image of the vir tual kekyboard .The projector features awide angle lens so that alarge pattern can be projected from the relatively low elevations assocated with monel device .wh en activated.the pattern projector displays a standard QWERTY keyboard layout into a flat surface such as a desk or the side of a briefcase .the projectod keynboard imalge can then be used it ent rdata into the device such as a cell phone or aPDA .in a efficient and familiar way.The dafacilt projectedkeyboard pattern has been optim ized to improved typing accuracy and include shottkeys for popular applications .To further improve usability ,the virtual pattern projector features adjustable brightnesslevelssotjht bthe man u factures and end users can configure the p attern projucter tonet meet the unique requirment s othe application enviroment and the ir

Used wirth smartphones andPDA s,the ukey** provides a practiclaweay to do emai l word processing and spreadsheet tasks, allowing the user to leave the lapltop computers at home .ukey technology has many application in various high tech and industrial sectors . these include data entry and controlpanel application isn h azardous and harish environments and medical markets . Projection keyboards or virtual keyboards claim to provide the conveniace of compactness with the advantages of a full- blown QWERTY keyboard. An interesting use of such keyboard s would be iin sterile environments where silece orlow nois e essential like ina opertion theaters .the advantate of such asystem is tha you d onot meed a surface for typng ,you can even type in the plan air . there is also a pr ovision for a pause fiction to avoid translating extraneous hand movements fuction ,sot hat users can stop to eat drink etc.. Figure It is also a superior desktop computer keyboard featuring dramatically easier to learn touch- typing and leaving on ehand free formouse of phone .combination key press es (chords ) of five main and two extra control keys allows user to typw at 25-60word s perminute, with possibly grater speeds acheved through the use of abbrefiatin expupnsion software .most users, however, will final emorizingt the chords easy an d fun, with the included typing tutorial .the keyboard doesnt dem and a lot of force, easing strain an swists and digits virtual keynoad socve the problem of so re thuybs that can be c aused by typing on tiny keyboard of various gage its like P DA s and cell phones .They are meant to meet the needs of mobile computer users struggling with cumbersome .tiny or non-existent keyboard .it might help to prev ent RSI injuries. The virtual keyboard uses an exromely durable material which is extremely easly to clean.the vkbinn;t restricted to the QWERTY tuch typing paradigm, adjustments can be done to the software to fit other toch typint pardigams as well.such as DVORA K keynoard .It will work with all typws of Bluwtooth enabled devices such as PDAs and smarphones .aswellas wearable computer s . applicatio include compuiter/ PDA s input ganing control ,tv remote control and musical applications ..thus virtual keyboard will make typing easier ,faster and almost a pleasure . VIRTUAL DEVICES Recently a new class of device has started to emerge which is conceptually roote d in exploting the input /out put duality. They can be called projectin / vision syste ms and /or projection / scanning or projection/camara technologies. In the pure case

. These are devices that case a laser.for exampil ,to project an imae of the input controller such as slider of keypd onto a surface. In doing so,they are performi nf a fuction anaylogous to an LCD displaying the image of avirtual device under atouc h scdree n .however, inthiscase, the laser is also used to scan the same surface th at it projecting onto, thereby enbling the device to see how your fingers, for example ,ar e interacting with the project virtual divice.. Ina slightlyless pure hybridform ,the projection and scanning functions can be performed by two separate ,nut intergrated technologies .for example instead of alaser projector ,aconvetional video or data projector coujld bne usede and anintegrate d video camera (supported nby vision software)usedforinput. Both the pure and hybjrid chsses of device have been used and have stringhrs andweaknesses .since laser is farless advanced than conventional data projection , the hybrid sometimes has advatageson display side .however 2D and 3D scanning using lazer is fr,pre developed than 2Dand 3D using vedeo based techniques .going forward ,one can expect laser projection technology to advace extremely quickly, especially inits ability to deliver extremely small, lowpower.briught ,re latively high resolutionprojectin capability . this will likely have astronfg impact on h ave hw interact with small portable defices such as PDAs,mobile phones and even wrist watches.notonlydoesthis techbology provede a mens to couple lare (virtual)I/ O transducers with small devices ,it provjiders the potential for sharing and inte racting with others ,despite using devicesas small as wristwatch. DIFFERENT VIRTUAL KEYBOARDS DEVEOPER VKB ** Its fullsize keyboard also combe projected onto any surface anduses laser tehno logies to translate finger movements into letters workitg with siemens procurnet logis tics serfices Rechargeable batteries similar to those in cell phones power the compact uit .thekeyboard isfull size and letters are in stadated format . as a c lass, laser theourput lpower isbelow thelevel at which eyes injury can occur . CANESTA** The canest keyboard which is the laserprojected keyboardwith whicdh the some laseris also used to scan theprojetion fields and extract 3D daa .inre, the use r sees theprojectcte keyboard ,and the device sees thepositon of the fingers over the projected keys.they also have a chipset.electronic perception technologies which they sulpply for 3rd parties to d evelop products usings theproj ectinor scanning rechnbology.canasta appear tobe themost advancedinthis class of techbology an d the only obne whois shipping product. They have number of patents pending on the ir

technology. SENSE BOARD TECHBOLOGIES The senseboard sb 04 technologuy is an extreme case of ahybtid approach . The sesing transluscer is neither alaser scanner nor acamera Rather ,ti is anracelet like trasducer thatis worn onte hanbs which captures hamd*** and fingernotin .the suystme obviosy could nbe argtumented to aid non-tjouch typist ,forexample, nby theinclusion of a grphic representation of the firtual keyboarduner the hands (f igure s ,In this case, the keyboard graphically relpresenlted would not be restricted to a conventional QWERTY keyboard ,and the graphical reapresetatin coul d b e projected or even on pece of paper Sensor made ofcobination of rubber anbdplastic are a ttached to the userspalmsinsuch away that theydo nointerfere with fingers.though theuseof Bluetooth techbology, the typed informatinis transferred wirelessly to thecomputer wher a wordprocessing program anluysles and interprets the signal into readable text . sense board officals sy it eventually eill be compatible with most brabds of pe cket pcs ,mobile phnbes andlaptop computers. KITTY*** KITTTY a finger mounted keyboard for data entry into PDAs.pocket pcs and wearable cpmputers which has beeeb defeloper here at the university of calformil at Irvine. KITTUY an acrognoym forkeyboard forkeyboard-independent TouchTyping, is afinger mountedkeyboardthatusestuch typing as amethod ofdata enty ,The device targens the portable compuiting market andin particular its wearable computing systems whixch are in need of silent invisible data entry systems based on tuc h typing .the new device combines theidea of afinger mounted coding device with the advanatage of a system that uses touch typing . INFOCUS In focus is one of the leading companies in providing video and data projectors. their projectors are conventional,in that they donot userlazertechnology ,this hastheadvantge of delivering high qualituy colour images with a matue technology.heweverithas thedisadvantgeof larger size, lower contrust andhigher po wer requirements compared to laser projection system. ADVANTAGES 1. It can be projected on any surface or you can type in the plain air 2. it can be useful in places like operation theaters where low noise is essenti al 3. The typing doesnt require a lot of force, so easing the strain on wrists and d igits. 4. The virtual keyboard is not restricted to the QWERTY touch type paradigm; adjustments can be done to the software to fit other touch type paradigm as well .

5. No driver software necessary, it can be used as a plug and play device. 6. High battery life. DRAWBACKS 1. Virtual keyboard is hard to get used to. Since it involves typing in thin air , it requires a little practise. Only people who are good at typing can use a virtual keyboard efficiently. 2. It is very costly ranging from 150 to 200 dollors 3. The room in which the projected keyboard is used should not be very bright so that the keyboard is properly visible. APPLICATIONS 1. High tech and industrial sectors 2. Used with smart phones, PDAs, email, wordprocessing and spread sheet tasks. 3. As computer/PDA input 4. Gaming control 5. TV remote control CONCLUSION Virtual keyboard uses sensor technology and artificial intelligence to let users work on nay surface as if it were a keyboard.
