Little and Thin

Activities for the Dime: 1. Spin-A-Coin - Partner game. Copy on card stock and laminate. Use dryerase markers. Use brad and paperclip or pencil and paperclip for the spinner. Student spins spinner, says penny, nickel or dime, marks a box for the correct one. Students get 10 turns each. Students can math talk about their results. 2. Flip-A-Dime - Copy on card stock, cut in half and laminate. Individual play. Students are given a dime. Flip dime and record using a dry erase marker. After each ip and record, student will cross out a pig to keep up with how many ips they have had. 3. Penny, Nickel, Dime - Students color pennies brown, nickels gray and dimes yellow. Count how many pennies/nickels/dimes and record. 4. The Dime Poem - Students can trace and color the penny poem for their poetry journals. 5. Dime Poem poster - Print and laminate, use in classroom. 6. Count Your Dimes - Copy on card stock and laminate. Students can play with partner or individually. Give a cup with 4 dimes. Shake the dimes in the cup and dump them on the oor or math mat. Use a dry erase marker to mark how many were heads and how many were tails. Mark off one pig for each turn. When 5 turns are up, count and record how many were heads and how many were tails. Then record which had less and which had more.
