name suggests specializes i n imparting education through distance learning and correspondence to maximize i ts reach to almost 1.4 million students as well as professionals across the coun try. Established in 1985 it is recognized by the University Grants Commission (U GC) and the Association of Indian Universities (AIU). IGNOU conducts the OPENMAT examination twice a year, in February and August for admissions in its School of Management which has courses like MBA and Diploma an d Post Graduate Diploma in Management. IGNOU MBA course makes use of the multimedia approach to impart education throug h distance. It is one of the largest open universities in India utilizing this m ethod. It makes use of several aids to ensure wholesome learning. The MBA distance learning program in IGNOU is the most sought after and actually comprises of a total of 21 courses which when completed account to the MBA degr ee. It includes all the courses from Post Graduate Diploma in Management, Five c ourses from any one of the specialisation streams, Compulsory Courses and, one e lective course and a Project Course equivalent to 2 courses Eligibility for Admission in IGNOU Management Programmes All candidates with a Bachelor's Degree and 3 years professional experience - or - all candidates with a professional degree (Engineering, Technology, Medicine, Architecture, Law, Pharmacy) - or - all candidates Professional Qualifications (in Accountancy, Cost and Works Accountancy, Company Secretaryship) - or candida tes with a Master's Degree are eligible to appear for the OPENMAT A unique facility is that foreign students residing in India with valid student visa for the minimum duration of the programme they are interested in are eligib le to appear for MBA from IGNOU. However, Programmes with fixed number of seats are not open for foreign students . IGNOU MBA Entrance Tests Twice a year IGNOU holds the OPENMAT Entrance Examinations for admissions to Man agement Programmes. IGNOU Application Forms will be available from IGNOU, New Delhi. A student can appear for any one of the above OPENMAT Examinations or for more t han one OPENMAT Examinations by applying for both separately .
