From the Founders Desk Dear friends and all the well wishers of Punya, I am pleased to publish the fourth quarter of 2011 edition of Punya Pragati. The report is a comprehensive articulation of all the information which a Punya donor would like to know about his contribution. This report makes a sincere effort to maintain highest level of quality and transparency of disclosures and is testimony to the strong foundation of Punya As individuals, our personal life is a reflection of our current level of consciousness. In the same way, the state of society as a whole is a reflection of our collective consciousness. Most people are very interested in pointing out the problems out there in society, however we do not always realize that what is out there is a reflection of what is in here. Unless each individual works towards raising his level of consciousness and of those around him, it is impossible to bring lasting transformation in society as a whole. An individual with a raised level of consciousness stops complaining about what is wrong with the world and instead focuses himself as to how he can positively make a difference.

The same message is carried in Michael Jackson's song "Man in the mirror" as well: I'm starting with the Man in the Mirror I'm Asking Him to Change His Ways And No Message Could Have Been Any Clearer If You Wanna Make The World A Better Place Take A Look At Yourself, And Then Make A Change... Punya's last quarter fund raising efforts generated Rs. 21477.40 for the social development activities and executed two projects each in Chennai and Bangalore with the help of the volunteers. A big thanks to our donors and volunteers without their support and trust, we wouldnt have reached here today. I look forward to your comments/suggestions on this report. Details of activities executed in the second quarter of 2011 (October 2011 December 2011)

Event # 19

Educational Scholarship to H.Divya, a 1st year BE (CSE) student from Chennai. Punya volunteers for this educational project is Mrs. Aruna Ravi from World Bank and Priya Singhi. They will= track the progress of the student at regular intervals. Event # 20 Punya Team provided educational scholarship to one more deserving student Pavan B from Abilashalayam Orphanage Bangalore . Punya team did a complete background verification for this case and found it to be genuine. Team Punya will continue to track his progress at regular intervals and guide /mentor him as and when required.

Filings of Income Tax Returns for the Financial Year ending Mar 2011. Punya charitable trust has filed the income Tax on November 17th, 2011 with the IT Department of India for the financial year ending on March 2011 . The entire Punya Team would like to thank and appreciate the efforts of the auditing team of CA Gopal and Co. for their due diligence in preparing the tax statements for Punya. All the audited statements will be available online soon in Punya Website. Upcoming Projects in Punya : Punya plans to partner with the Online Micro-finance Platform like Milaap (www.milaap.org) and Inventure (www.inventure.org) that enables individuals to reach out to India's working poor so they can get access to education, clean water, energy and more. Its a loan, not a donation. Microfinance is the provision of financial services to low-income clients or solidarity lending groups including consumers and the self-employed, who traditionally lack access to banking and related services.
