Early Years Foundation Stage Focus for the Term:
This term we will be looking at shared goals and the importance of teamwork. We will be identifying why it is important to work together and playing some games to demonstrate working together as a team. Through a focus on the Paralympics we will identify the importance of resilience and the understanding that having a disability does not mean you cant achieve. We will also be exploring and celebrating our different cultures looking at flags and countries.
This term we will have a focus on maps and countries. We will be looking at the world and identifying countries important to our families. Please talk to your children about your family background or places you have visited. We will explore what it means for London to host the Olympic Games and the changes that have taken place in the city due to its arrival. We will also look at previous Olympic Games. Our PE topic this term is Gymnastics. We will be building up from using small equipment such as mats to venturing onto the large wall apparatus later in the term! A big focus will be on team sports and Olympic sports and we will be trying a few different types ourselves in preparation for our own Mini Olympics. Stay tuned for more details about the EYFS Olympics.
Physical Development:
Creative Development:
We will be creating and designing flags using a range of different media. With our focus on the Olympics we will be looking at the opening ceremonies and different national anthems of countries and well as exploring music and instruments from around the world.
Outside wear
With the wet weather we have been having and will continue to have this term please ensure children have appropriate clothing for school. This means a waterproof coat and, if possible, a pair of named welly boots. A great idea is to include a pair of named socks in your childs book back as they can sometimes become wet inside welly boots.
Book Bags
Please ensure that your child brings their book bag to school every day! A range of notices are given out and without bags they will become lost. It is also so important that children have their reading book on the correct day so ensuring their book bag is bought to school will encourage this.
