I never think of the future, said Einstein once, It comes soon enough.

The sheer pace of change in the new millennium is proving the veracity of the statement. As technology marches ahead throwing up newer opportunities as well as threats, Organizations today are left to grapple with an extremely complex and dynamic environment with a slim vision of what lies ahead. Newer business models are testing the limits of imagination and giving a tough time to the established ones. Innovation has moved away from being a competitive advantage to becoming a necessity for survival. As the traditional models of organizational design give way to newer and perhaps unimaginable forms, the long cherished values and cultural norms of the organization are also getting challenged. In this context, Human Resource Management has become more challenging than ever. The workforce is getting younger, diverse, and global yet demands a more holistic and satisfying workplace with credible opportunities for work-life balance. Conventional frameworks of leadership, communication and teamwork are also being questioned by the emergence of the virtual workplace. Ethics, social responsibility, environmental sustainability etc. which were once considered corporate rhetoric have become the part of everyday usage. In times like these it is only the really prudent who can hope to survive and indeed make most of the future. The strategy for the same is not easy to come by and requires immense thought and a foresight beyond measure. Disha 2011 is a humble effort to gaze into the crystal ball and try getting insights of what lies ahead in the perilous yet exciting period of time which is called future. Being one of the very few annual HR conclaves held by any B-School in the country, DISHA has become a forum where industry experience meets academic rigor and creates a whole new learning experience.
