Question: What is Physics? Define its branches? The branch of science, which deals with the study of properties of matter, energy and their mutual relationship. Following are the branches of Physics: Mechanics: It is the study of motion and the physical affect which influence motion. Heat & Thermodynamics: It is the study of thermal energy possessed by molecules. Sound: It is the study of physical aspects of audible sound energy. Light: It is the study of physical aspects of visible light. Electromagnetism: It is the study of electromagnetism phenomena and mutual relationship between them. Atomic and molecular physics: It is the study of atoms and molecules of material things. Nuclear Physics: It is study of isolated nuclei of the atoms. Plasma Physics: Matter becomes gas on very high temperature. This is called plasma. The study of properties of matter is this state is called plasma physics. Solid State Physics: It is the study of properties of matter in solid form is called solid state physics. It has three branches i) Astrophysics is the study of heavenly bodies. ii) Geophysics is the study of internal structure of earth. iii) Biophysics is the study of biological sciences on the basis of physics. Question: What do you know about Hero? Hero was the scientist of 3rd century from Alexandria. He prepared a toy, which work from steam. We hear the sound of Azan through loud speakers. Loud speaker is the fruit of Physics. Every transport that we use, i.e. Bus, Van, Car, Tonga etc have some applications of physics. We draw water from well with the help of pulley. Pulley is also an application of physics. Television, Solar cells, VCR and Radio are fruits of physics. Atom bomb is a result of research in physics. Microscopes have been developed to examine the internal structure of living things. It also help in research of Biology.

Question: Write down the scientific method in Physics? Scientific method of physics is based on following steps: Observation: The first step is to make observations of natural processes to collect data. Hypothesis: On the basis of data we make an hypothesis through observations or experiments. This is done to test the logical tests. Experiment: This is an organized process which is used to test the truth of hypothesis. Theory: When a hypothesis is tested and verified by experiments then it becomes a theory. Prediction: After the careful analysis of theory we can make a prediction. Law: It is a statement which explains the observations and experiments of the past. Question: Write down the contribution made by Muslim Scientists in the field of Physics? Ibn-ul-Haithem: i) His full name was (Ibn-ul-Haithem Abu Ali Hussain Bin Hussain). ii) He was born in Busra in 965 A.D. iii) He was expert in optics. iv) The name of his famous book is Al-Manazir. v) He explained the nature of light first time. He was well aware of the refraction of light. He discovered the both laws of refraction of light. vi) By making a small hole in the door he made the pin hole camera. In this invention he viewed the solar eclipse. vii) He described the internal structure of eye. His research regarding eye is considered authentic even today. Alberuni: i) His full name was (Abu Rehman Muhammad Bin Ahmad Alberuni). ii) He was born in about 973 A.D in village near Khawarzim.
