King Arthur

King Arthur, the legendary King of the Kingdom

of Avalon, is the best-known character of the Matter

of Britain.

In these stories, King Arthur lives extraordinary

adventures and battles from the very moment of his

birth.

The son of King Uther Pendragon, he was raised by

the warlock Merlin, who taught him how to become

the future king of Avalon.

Different stories and legends relate him to the

mythical sword Excalibur, which only he managed to

get out from a magic stone.

He married Queen Guinevere, but had difficult

moments when she and the knight Lancelot had a

love affair.

As the leader of the Knights of the Round Table,

King Arthur still leads his knights through legend,

history and myth in Great Britain and all over the

world.
