feelings of fear and shame that remains much longer after the physical injuries have healed. What is neglect? Explain how neglect affects each part of a childs health triangle. Emotional neglect may take the form of indifference or withholding love and support. This may result in the child running away from the home. What is the cycle of violence? What are some ways of breaking this cycle? It is the pattern of repeating violent or abusive behaviors from one generation to the next. Some ways of breaking the cycle are: - Tell a trusted adult. Ask this person to help you find a way to resolve this problem. - Contact an abuse hot line or crisis center that can assist you in finding counselors or other forms of help. - Report the abuse to the police. If the victim has recurring nightmares or begins to become very paranoid, I would take the victim to seek professional help. A professional someone that slowly calms them down and heal them emotionally. Some say the long-term effects of abuse are worse than the short-term effects. Explain why this statement might be true for many victims. Some short-term effects may include physical injuries and many injuries would eventually heal.
