SAL O-rlng (O-Plng 8oss) are stralght thread ttlngs that
seal uslng a O-rlng between the thread and the wrench
nats of the ttlng. The O-rlng seals agalnst the
machlned seat on the female port.
O-rlng ttlngs can be elther ad[ustable or
non-ad[ustable. Non ad[ustable ttlngs are screwed
lnto a port where no allgnment ls needed. Ad[ustable
ttlngs can be orlented ln a speclc dlrectlon.
Plttlngs wlth O-rlngs oner advantages over metal-to-
metal ttlngs. Under or over-tlghtenlng any ttlng can
allow leakage, but all-metal ttlngs are more suscep-
tlble to leakage because they must be tlghtened to a
hlgher and narrower torque range. Thls makes lt easler
to strlp threads or crack or dlstort ttlng components,
whlch prevents proper seallng.
Leaks can also result from vlbratlon, thermal cycllng
and from loads belng supported by the connectlon (l.e.
uslng the ttlng ln the connectlon to support mechanl-
cal loads).
whenever posslble, we hlghly recommend uslng SAL
O-rlng or 1|C ttlngs. 8oth of these provlde a hlghly
rellable, reusable connectlon. Slnce these ttlngs dont
rely on mechanlcal deformatlon to create a seal, the rlsk
of a broken ttlng or port ls vlrtually ellmlnated.

STEP 1: Pollow steps l and 2 from the foregolng
lnstructlons, then proceed to the followlng steps below.
STEP 2: Looklng at ttlng from end wlth nut/washer/o-
rlng assembly, turn nut clockwlse as far as posslble by
hand.
STEP 3: Uslng wrench, turn ttlng lnto port untll the
washer touches thread nearest wrench pad.
STEP 4: 8ack on ttlng counterclockwlse not exceedlng
one revolutlon untll lt ls orlented ln the correct posltlon.
STEP 5: Place wrench on the wrench pad of ttlng to
prevent ttlng from turnlng, and torque nut to the value
shown ln the followlng table.
wet torqulng ls the practlce of uslng your systems hydraullc
nuld to lubrlcate the threads and o-rlng of the ttlngs before
lnstallatlon. Due to dlnerences ln materlals, platlng types and
thlckness, and thread quallty of dlnerent components, the
coemclent of frlctlon varles greatly on any glven assembly.
Lubrlcatlon not only produces a more conslstent coemclent of
frlctlon, lt lncreases clamplng force on seallng area wlth less
torque on threads. Over tlghtenlng causes threads to yleld,
deform, and therefore lose thelr ablllty to malntaln an
adequate load or clamplng force on the seatlng area.
Lxtended operatlon and severe condltlons cause further
yleldlng whlch results ln leaks. To not wet torque ls to
compromlse conslstency and quallty for convenlence. Use the
lowest torque value from the chart when wet torqulng.
STEP 1: |nspect all components for damage or contaml-
natlon.
STEP 2: Lubrlcate o-rlng and threads on ttlng wlth
your hydraullc sytems nuld.
STEP 3: Turn ttlng lnto port untll nger tlght, then
torque to the value shown ln the followlng table.
