Pg.229 OKAY, I says. Let s get started. Is it time to apologize? says Coyote. Not yet, I says.

Is it time to be helpful/ says Coyote. I can be very helpful. Forget being helpful, I says. Sit down and listen.

Pg.230 OKAY, said the lone Ranger. whose turn is it now? Well, who went last/ said Ishmael. You did. Then it s Robinson Crusoe s turn. What about me? Says Coyote. I d like a turn. That doesn t sound like a good idea, said Hawkeye. No, said Robinson Crusoe. That sounds like a Coyote idea. Anyway, said Ishmael, it s Robinson Crusoe s turn. Maybe Coyote can turn on the light, said Robinson Crusoe. Yes, says Coyote. I can do that. Okay, said Hawkeye. Let s get going. Watch me, says Coyote. Watch me turn on the light.

Pg. 232 [When Thought woman falls asleep and the river carries her away] Hmmmmm, says Coyote. I don t like the sound of that. Maybe that River reminds you of someone, I says. Who/ says Coyote. Never mind, I says. More important things to worry about. Yes, says Coyote. For example, what happened to Old Coyote? Old Coyote is fine, I says. But Thought Woman is floating away. Hmmmmm, says Coyote. I don t like the sound of that. [When Thought woman floats right out of the river and into the sky] Oh, no! says coyote. Notagain. Sure, I says. what did you expect was going to happen? How many more times do we have to do this? says Coyote. Until we get it right, I says.

Pg.233 [The four Indians stand at the Blossom Lodge parking lot. They do their greetings, and then:] Okay, said the lone Ranger. Did Coyote turn on the light/ Yes, said Robinson Crusoe. I believe he did. Are we ready? asked Ishmael.

Pg.237 [Dr. Hovaugh and Babo go through Canadian border station] Hey, says Coyote, look who s back. Just ignore him, I says. But maybe they ll give us a ride, says Coyote. No time for that, I says. We got to get back to the other story. By the way, says Coyote, where are we? Canada, I says. Come on. Canada, says Coyote. I ve never been to Canada.

Pg.238 [Dr. Hovaugh and Babo discuss difference between omen and miracle, and which they believe in.] Wow! says Coyote. Omens and miracles. We haven t had any of those yet. Get your head down, I says. He s going to see you. Here I am, says Coyote. Here I am. And that one dances around and jumps around and stands around. Here I am, says that standing-around Coyote. You are one silly Coyote, I says. No wonder this world is a mess.

Pg.253 [I m not sure whether this is relevant or not, but there has been discussion about Coyote being related to the puddles of water. This is the Charlie in the cafe after he saw that the four Indians had disappeared.] At first, [Charlie] thought he had forgotten where he had parked it, but as he looked from car to car, he remembered the flat tire and the puddle. The puddle was still there. The car was not.

Pg.266 [Right after Coyote scratches on the door of Bill Bursum s store, and Bill opened the door to check who was outside, only to find that there was nothing.] Hey, says Coyote, that was fun. You got to stop doing that, I says I wasn t doing anything, says Coyote. You ve done plenty already, I says. Let s go around to the front and wait, says Coyote. Wait for what? I says. For the store to open, says Coyote.

Pg.269 [New Chapter] OKAY, says Coyote. Let s see if I have this right. First, Thought woman floats off the edge of the world and into the sky. I m very impressed, I tell Coyote. Pretty soon you can tell this story. And then she falls into the ocean, says Coyote.

Hooray! I says. Hooray! Did I get it right? says Coyote. Not exactly, I says.

Pg.270 [Thought Woman meets A.A. Gabriel from Canadian Security and Intelligence Service. Gives Thought woman a card, and the parody of O Canada is sung by the card.] I know that song, says Coyote. Hosannada, in-in the highest, hosannada forever... You got the wrong song, I says. This song goes Hosanna da, our home on Natives land. Oh, says Coyote. That song.

Pg.271 [Still with Gabriel] Look, look, says Coyote. It s Old Coyote. Hmmmmm, I says. So it is. Hmmmmm, Says Coyote. I don t like the sound of that.

Pg.271 [Later] Fruit? says Coyote. Relax, I says. It s just another metaphor. Oh... says Coyote. So she really means yes, right?

Pg.272 [End of chapter] But there is only one Thought Woman, says Coyote. that s right, i says. And there is only one Coyote, says coyote. No, I says. This world is full of Coyotes. Well, says Coyote, that s frightening. Yes it is, I says. Yes it is.

Pg.273-274 [Talks about when Coyote is with the 4 Indians, and they discuss the dance . Coyote claims he knows the dance, but instead creates an uneasy weather. The Indians then say that that is the wrong dance. The four Indians then state that they are going to a party, in which Coyote is excited to go. *Last sentence of the chapter seems significant*]

Pg.284 [Alberta scene when she lost her car] Her car was not where she had left it. Alberta walked through the parking lot, thinking she might have forgotten exactly where she had parked. After all, it had been late. It had been dark. Things always looked different in the light. But the car was gone. The puddle she had had to walk around the night before was still there. The car was not.

Pg.293 [Floating Thought Woman scene where she ends up with Robinson Crusoe island place thingy lol] COYOTE, COYOTE, I says. Get back here. Things are happening. Just a minute, says Coyote. I got to finish my dance. You ve done enough dancing already, I says. Looks like I ve got to go, Coyote says to the old Indians. but I ll be back. It s okay Coyote, said the Lone Ranger. We won t start without you. Great, says Coyote. And that one dances back into this story. About time, I says. Thought Woman can t float around forever, you know. Hey, says Coyote, where did that island come from? That s what happens when you don t pay attention, I says.

Pg.294 [Claims to recognize Robinson Crusoe] Hey, says Coyote haven t we seen that guy before? They all look the same, I says. But isn t that...? says Coyote. No, I says. That s Robinson Crusoe. You re getting him mixed up with Caliban. Who s Caliban? says Coyote. [Robinson Crusoe makes list of good and bad points] Oh, no, says Coyote. Robinson Crusoe is naked. Well, I says, at least no one can see him. It s still very embarrassing, says Coyote.

Pg.294-295 [Robinson Crusoe and Thought Woman make a little more conversation on good points/bad points.] He doesn t have a car, says Coyote. that s a bad point. But he doesn t have to buy gasoline, I says. Okay, but he doesn t have a television, either, says Coyote. That s very bad. So he doesn t have to watch it, I says. Okay, okay, says Coyote. Old Coyote doesn t seem to be around to help. So what s the bad point? I says. Boy, says Coyote, this is fun.

Pg.295 [Further argument between names and Thought Woman decides to float in the ocean once again.] This is beginning to beginning to get boring, Says Coyote. How long is Thought Woman going to float around this time? Who knows? I says. I have to get back, says Coyote. How about I call you from the store to see what s happening? How about I call you Friday? Hee-hee, hee-hee. Better call sooner than that, I says. By Friday, this story will be done.

Pg.297 [Eli enters Bill Bursum s store with the 4 Indians already inside, as well as Coyote. Coyote asks if it was time to sing Happy Birthday yet, and asks where the cake and ice cream were.]

Pg.298 [Coyote talks to himself. Wants people to ask him how he was, then answering his own question with I m fine, that s how I am. Then further one he states that he was also wet, and that being wet is not so fine.] This all occurs as the four Indians along with Eli, Lionel and Bursum have a conversation about family and spending birthdays with family. (My summary is not in detail, you might want to check up on that.) Near the end of the chapter (pg.299) after Lionel and Eli are talking about radios, Coyote says outloud that he has to make a phone call. There is a play on syntax with this, as Coyote assumes Lionel and Eli are talking to him, and that he is conversing with them.

Pg.300 Coyote dials the number several times. Busy. So that Coyote dials that number again. Hello, I says. First Nations Pizza. Hello, Friday, says Coyote. Hee-hee, hee-hee. Hello, Coyote, I says. Don t hello me, says Coyote. What s happening with Thought Woman? Who? I says. Is she still floating around? Who? I says. Stop that, says Coyote. It s mean stuff like that that makes this world so silly.

Pg.300-301 [As conversation between the humans carry on, Coyote continues to relentlessly bug them about having a party. Coyote is treating himself as a human, in attempt to join in and commute with them. Amongst the talking, Lone Ranger does reply Coyote at the end of the chapter with: I guess you re right, Coyote, said the Lone Ranger. We better sing Happy Birthday .

Pg.316-322 [This chapter is in Bursum s store with Lionel, Charlie, the four Indians and Coyote. They prepare to turn on The Map and watch a Western, in which a plot twist endures in that particular Western; The twist being the Indians prevailing over the white . Unexpectedly, the Indian chief in the Western was Charlie (Portland) and Lionel immediately recognizes him, as well as Eli.]

Coyote continues to try to fit in the crowd . He watches the Western with the rest of the group. In my opinion, there is nothing of great significance in this section for Coyote, but I suggest you relook at this part to see what may help you.

Pg.323-324 [This section is back to Thought Woman, narrator and Coyote conversation.] YOO-HOO, says Coyote. I m back. About time, I says. Did you see that movie? says Coyote Forget the movie, I says. We have work to do. Where s Thought Woman? says Coyote. Floating, I says. Still floating says Coyote. Say, is there something I m missing? [Thought Woman thinks to herself, with comparison of good points/bad points.] Whoa, says Coyote. That s not a nice thing to say. That hurt my feelings. Calm down, I says. It s just a list. Under the bad points, Says Coyote, there are soldiers waiting on shore to capture Thought Woman. How do you like that? Oh, no, I says. You have done it again. See how Thought Woman likes that. So, I says. what s the good point? What good point? says Coyote. Silly Coyote, I says. There are good points and there are bad points, but there are never all good points or all bad points. Are you sure? says Coyote. Positive, I says. Okay, says coyote. The good point is that the soldiers have flowers in their hair. That s a good point? I says. Its the best I can do, says Coyote. [Thought Woman hits a beach on Florida, and soldiers come up to arrest her. The soldier questions Thought Woman who she was and whether the flowers on them were done by her. Thought Woman claims she is Robinson Crusoe.]

Pg.324 I m Sorry, says Coyote. Too late for being sorry, I says. I got a little carried away, says Coyote. But I ve got it straight now. Are you sure? I says. You bet, says Coyote. But just to make sure, could we go through it one more time?
