Swedish belongs to the East Scandinavian group of languages, subdivided from the North Germanic branch of the Germanic languages, a descendant of Old Norse. There are two more Scandinavian languages that Swedish language interfere with, those are Norwegian and Danish. Approximately nine million people speak Swedish as their mother tongue or second official language, they reside in Sweden for the most part but also in Norway, Denmark, Finland and Estonia. The law code Västgötalagen, written around 1250 considers to be the most relevant example of that period. The sample of the New Swedish language can be found in Gustav Vasa's Bible that belongs to 16th century. - Since then Swedish language has gone through various changes and, under the influence of writers and intellectuals, as well as due to the industrial development and internationalization, it has developed into becoming Modern Swedish, the language spoken by the Swedes today. Nowadays "Rikssvenska" or Standard Swedish has becom the official language of Sweden. Swedish alphabet has 29 letters that has 26 letters of Latin origin and three letters that refer to Scandinavian group of languages : , , . Its vocabulary is predominantly of Germanic origin. German, English and French borrowings are common in Swedish and became a solid part of the modern language. Both Swedish syntax and morphology resemble the ones of the other Germanic languages. There are five conjugations for Swedish verbs; nouns are more inflected by the number and divided into five declensions; indefinite and definite cases; adjectives agree with noun and pronouns; cardinal and ordinal numbers etc. No matter how difficult it might look, Swedish proves to be as easy language to learn for those whose first or second language is English or German and of course for the neighbor countries of Sweden.

The European Union and the Nordic Council consider Swedish as an official language and use it as a working language. Such worldwide known companies such as Volvo, IKEA, Ericsson, Tetra Pak and so on, stand for the country which is considered to have the highest standard of living, which is Sweden of course.
