What will I learn?
Embassy Pathways is an intensive training
programme and is designed to equip you
with the skills that you need to succeed at
university. During the course, you will focus
on language skills, academic reading and
writing, listening, speaking and academic
vocabulary. We continuously assess your
progress through classwork and assignments
as well as mid-term tests and tutorials.
On successfully completing the course,
your certicate or diploma enables you
to progress directly to degree level study.
On arrival, a placement test will dene your
current language ability. We then evaluate the
amount of training youll need through English
language skills assessment and needs analysis.
Throughout your course, we continuously
assess your work to make sure you are on
track to complete it on time. Mid-term and
end-of-term assessments, as well as tutorials
and progress reports, ensure that you know
how you are progressing.
How it works...
Embassy Pathways gives you an English language qualication recognised
by over 70 universities and colleges around the world, without the need to sit
IELTS, TOEFL, or Cambridge exams.
What are the course requirements?
Embassy Pathways courses are for students
who have successfully completed high school
in their home country, and are ready to start
their undergraduate education, or have
successfully completed their rst degree
and want to progress to a Masters degree
course. For Pre-Masters students, conditional
acceptance will be based on the results and
relevance of your undergraduate degree study.
Our trusted university partners know that
students who complete our courses are
well-prepared to succeed in degree study.
Because of our international reputation for
excellence in English language training,
colleges and universities throughout the
English speaking world see an Embassy
qualication as evidence of solid
preparation and commitment.
Not sure where to study yet?
You can start an Embassy Pathway
Course even if you havent yet decided
upon your chosen course of degree study.
Our academic counsellors will advise you
and help with your application after arrival,
even if your chosen institution is outside
the Embassy pathway network.
Upon successful completion of your course,
youll also receive a Certicate of Achievement
awarded by our academic board. This outlines
in detail the skills you have attained in all areas
of language prociency.
Across the globe there are different educational
requirements for university entry, and Embassy
Pathways courses vary from country to country
to suit the needs of the national system they
serve. However, the philosophy behind our
methods is consistent worldwide, and the
goals and quality of each course allows
for easy transfer between programmes.
Academic content, number of lessons,
and outcomes are common to all courses.
All Embassy Pathways courses are divided
into four stages. Depending on the institution,
you will usually need to successfully complete
a minimum of Stage 3 to commence
undergraduate study, and Stage 4 to
begin a graduate degree. There are also
some Diploma and Certicate courses that
will accept successful completion of Stage 2.

Universities
The public, state system has 37 universities which have
an international reputation for excellence in teaching
and research. They offer courses leading to diplomas,
Bachelors degrees and postgraduate degrees. A typical
Bachelors degree takes three years to complete but some
programmes, such as medicine or engineering, may
take longer. Some universities also offer double degree
programmes that may take up to four or ve years.
Technical and Vocational Colleges
The public system also includes over 200 career-focussed
colleges known as TAFE. They mainly offer Certicate,
Diploma and Advanced Diploma courses, and are
recognized internationally for high quality teaching and
good value for money. There are also a wide range of
specialized, private career colleges, usually focussing on
a particular skill set. Both types of institution can offer a
pathway into university for transfer to degree completion.
The Australian Academic Year
Most Australian universities and colleges have two
semesters a year. One runs from February to June, and
another from July to November. A number of institutions
also offer a summer semester from November to January
during the vacation period.
Australia offers two main types of higher
education: career-focussed training in
colleges, and more academic university
courses. Weve selected partners from
both sectors to bring you some of the
best education Australia has to offer.

Assessment
This varies according to the course and the institution. Some courses are
continually assessed throughout the semester and have nal exams. Other
courses are assessed by nal exams only. Grades are given for subjects or
units and a student typically completes four units in a semester. A three-

Postgraduate Studies
Masters degrees can be completed in one or two years. Entry into
postgraduate studies by coursework can be competitive and is usually
based on Grade Point Average from undergraduate studies.
Price
Prices for courses vary considerably according to the kind of course
and the length. Generally, undergraduate tuition ranges from A$20,000
to 25,000 per year. Living costs would typically range from A$12,000 to
18,000 a year depending on the students lifestyle. TAFE colleges are
usually less expensive than universities.

International students studying in Australia on a student visa are allowed
to work up to a maximum of 20 hours a week. According to the course
studied students may be able to remain in Australia and work for up to

The American Academic Year
Most American universities operate on an academic
year divided into two semesters, lasting 15-17 weeks
with winter and summer breaks in between. Initially
there is less subject specialisation than in other
countries, and students must take a variety
of courses for which they are awarded credits.
Most courses are awarded three credits, and
students usually complete 120-130 credits over
four years to complete a Bachelors degree.
You can also opt for a two year Associates degree,
and it is possible to return to study later to convert it
into a Bachelors degree. This is often a good choice
for students wanting a taste of American university life.
Assessment
At the end of each semester, students usually
take exams for each course they have studied,
and coursework is also assessed. Grades are given,
and a Grade Point Average (GPA) is calculated on
a scale from A (4 points) to F (0 points).
Postgraduate Studies
Masters degrees are offered at both colleges
and universities. Most programmes can be
completed in one or two years. The admissions
process takes longer than at the undergraduate
level as entry tests are usually required. For
applicants to business schools, the Graduate
Management Admission Test (GMAT) is a
requirement for many graduate programmes.
With almost 5,000 institutions, the
United States has the largest and most
well-respected higher education system
in the world. Reecting this incredible
choice of opportunities, our partners
include state universities, elite private
liberal arts colleges and affordable
community colleges.

The Canadian Academic Year
The academic year at most universities is divided
into two semesters, from September to December
and from January to April. Most institutions also offer
spring and summer sessions.
Admission Requirements
The normal minimum prerequisite for admission to
undergraduate studies at Canadian universities is
the completion of a secondary-school programme.
Acceptance to many universities can be competitive,
so grades are also important. Colleges generally have
more exible entrance requirements than universities.
Assessment
Students in college and university programmes will
normally be required to take mid-term and nal exams.
Coursework such as essays, assignments, lab work
and presentations may also count toward the nal
grade for each term. Some graduate programmes
also require completion of a thesis or research paper.
Post-secondary institutions in Canada are mainly
state run, and include universities, university colleges,
community colleges, and technical colleges. Colleges
can be a good intermediate step between high school
and university. Diplomas take one or two years to
complete and can sometimes be transferred into a
university undergraduate degree. Bachelors degrees
normally require three or four years of full-time study.

Graduate Studies
Masters degrees, which can be taken after successful completion of
a Bachelors degree, generally take one to two years. In addition to the
completion of a Bachelors degree, admission to a graduate programme
often requires additional test results. Professional experience, references
and personal statements are usually also required.
Price
Canada offers the lowest tuition rates for international students compared
to the UK, Australia, and the USA. The average tuition cost for a foreign
student for one school year (8 months) in an undergraduate programme
is C$12,000. Postgraduate tuition fees vary much more by course and
subject, but are very competitive compared to other English-speaking
countries. Housing for the academic year is approximately C$6,000
including facilities and meals.
Work
The Off-Campus Work Permit allows certain foreign students to
work off campus while completing their studies. To qualify, you
must be a full-time student enrolled at a participating publicly funded
post-secondary educational institution or in an approved programme
at an eligible privately funded institution. International students enrolling
in programmes longer than six months are required to obtain a study
permit before entering Canada.

The United Kingdom has one of the
longest established and most highly
respected higher education systems in
the world, with universities dating back
over 800 years. There are currently over

The British Academic Year
The academic year at most universities is divided into
three terms, from October to December, from January
to March, and from April to June.
Undergraduate degree courses normally last for
three years and involve the study of a single subject
or two main subjects in a joint or combined studies
programme. Increasingly, modular courses are being
offered, in which students choose different (and
usually interrelated) subjects each year. There are
also four-year courses, often including a period
of industrial or professional training sandwiched
between periods of academic study.
Admission Requirements
Completion of a secondary-school programme is
the normal minimum prerequisite for admission
to undergraduate studies at British universities.

Postgraduate Studies
These are called Masters in the UK, and are usually studied over
one year, and lead to a Masters degree e.g. MA and MSc or M.Phil.
Masters programmes fall into two categories. research programmes allow
students to pursue their own particular areas of interest under the guidance
and supervision of a tutor, while taught programmes consist of seminars
and lectures together with a dissertation.
MBA students will also normally need to have a substantial amount
of work experience (two or three years in a management position) and
because of this, the average age of students on MBA programmes is
considerably higher than for those on other Masters programmes

International students are not permitted to work in the UK.

1. Payment of Fees
Full fees must be paid before visa documents are issued and no later than 14 days
before arrival. Transfers and accommodation documents will be released once payment
has been received in full. For all late payments made after the due date, a fee of 2%
of the payment amount will be added.
2. Services
The company reserves the right to change details of its services, including
courses, facilities and course dates, where circumstances beyond the companys
control necessitate such changes or where the number of enrolments is not enough
to operate a course viably.
3. Course Entry Levels
All Pathways courses require minimum levels of English for entry. If after the placement
test, a student is found to be below the minimum level required to start the course, the
school reserves the right to place the student in a class with fewer lessons and/or and
a different curriculum. Where this results in extending the duration of a students course,
Embassy CES may need to issue a new Certicate of Enrolment. Students may be
transferred to the nearest centre running a lower level course.
4. Changes to Enrolments
The company reserves the right to charge an Administration Fee (GBP50; USD80;
CAD80; AUD80) each time course or accommodation details are changed or cancelled
after a place has been conrmed. Additionally, when a change request for a previously
conrmed accommodation is received less than 7 days in advance of the scheduled
arrival date, an equivalent weeks accommodation penalty fee will be charged. These
fees will not apply to upgraded or extended courses.
5. Changes to Airport Transfers
Notication of change to airport transfers must be sent to our International Admissions
Centre at least 2 full working days prior to the designated arrival time. If notice is not
received the company cannot be held liable for operational errors, and an additional
Administration Fee will apply.
6. Accommodation and Travel details
Students that have booked Embassy accommodation will receive details upon receipt
of payment and travel information and no more than 14 days prior to arrival. If travel
information is received less than 2 working days prior to the scheduled arrival date then
the company may not be in a position to provide the transfer or accommodation service
for the weekend of arrival.
7. Accident & Medical Insurance
Every student must have appropriate insurance and provide a document with the
students name and date of coverage as proof. The company recommends that all
students take our own StudyCare insurance which is tailored to the needs of international
students. Cover under the StudyCare insurance policy does not commence until the
insurance fees have been paid in full. StudyCare is not available to students within
Australia.
In the USA, Canada, and the UK, students not wishing to take StudyCare must present
an equivalent insurance certicate on arrival. Students without insurance must take
StudyCare.
In Australia, it is compulsory for those on Student Visas to take Overseas Student Health
Cover (OSHC) for the duration of the time they are in Australia. Students need to buy
OSHC before coming to Australia, to cover them from when they arrive. This ensures
they have adequate health care arrangements while studying in Australia. If the student
chooses for Embassy to arrange OSHC for the rst course/year only of their programme,
it is their responsibility to either extend or take out OSHC for the rest of their time in
Australia. They must provide evidence of cover for the entire study period before a
Conrmation of Enrolment will be issued.
8. General Refund Policy
All refunds will be sent to the account of the Embassy representative to whom the fees
were originally paid, or to the individual from whom Embassy has received the original
direct payment.
If a students visa application is rejected after payment has been received all fees,
excluding any cancellation fees detailed in the Cancellation Policy below, will be refunded
within 28 days, provided a visa refusal letter is received by our International Admissions
Centre at least 2 working days before the course is due to start and the student has
fullled all requirements for a visa application. No refund will be made if a visa rejection is
based on students failure to meet the necessary criteria for their chosen visa category.
Students in San Diego, Los Angeles and San Francisco must sign a California State
Enrolment & Refund Agreement form. Refunds will be processed according to these
terms and conditions.
Australia
In Australia this agreement, and the availability of complaints and appeals processes,
does not remove the right of the student to take action under Australias consumer
protection laws. Refunds will be provided to students within 28 days if the student
defaults and within 14 days if the school defaults.
In the unlikely event that the school is unable to deliver a course in full, the student will
be offered a refund of all the course money paid to date. The refund will be paid within
14 days of the day on which the course ceased being provided. Alternatively, the student
may be offered enrolment in a suitable alternative course by the school at no extra cost.
The student has the right to choose whether they would prefer a full refund of course
fees, or to accept a place on another course. If they choose placement on another
course, Embassy will ask them to sign a document to indicate acceptance of the
placement.
If the school is unable to provide a refund or place the student on an alternative course
our Tuition Assurance Scheme (TAS) provider will place them on a suitable alternative
course at no extra cost. Finally, if the TAS provider cannot place the student in a suitable
alternative course, the ESOS Assurance Fund Manager will attempt to place them on a
suitable alternative course or, if this is not possible, the student will be eligible for a refund
as calculated by the Fund Manager.
9. Cancellation Policy
Embassy denes cancellation as the period prior to start of the rst course. All
cancellations must be made in writing to our International Admissions Centre and
the following refund policies apply:
Enrolment Fee, Courier Fee, Accommodation Placement Fee, or Administration Fee
will not be refunded for any student cancelling their course before arrival.
Tuition Refunds before Arrival UK, USA and Canada
Where cancellations are received in writing more than 14 days before the rst course
start date 100% of tuition fees will be refunded, but any courier fee, enrolment fee, UK
