WORK HISTORY Position

Process Specialist

Company
ColtEng Corp., a division of WorleyParsons Canada

Location
Sarnia, Ontario Canada

Year-Year
2008-2009

Analyzed and made changes to PIDs, PFDs, LDTs, Equipment Data Sheets, as well as filled instrumentation lists for the Edmonton Corefco Project in 2008 (an upgrade of 18 Plant Units used to produce cobalt and nickel with solid fertilizer as a byproduct from ore coming out of the Caribbean island of Cuba). Project prematurely closed and awaited Canadian Immigration Application resolution; filed in 2009. Returned to Canada as Landed Immigrant in 2010. Revised drawings, reviewed technical reports and leveraged expertise in engineering systems and procedures for major Sarnia refinery projects to champion increased efficiency and safety as it relates to equipment emissions and feedstock impurities, such as sulfur content in oil sources. Researched brown field projects in the Sarnia Shell and Suncor industries, developing Basis of Design and Calculation sheets documentation; reviewed drawings, vendor documentation and safeguarding drawings as a checker; and completed HAZOP recommendations as required. Senior Process Engineer WorleyParsons Trinidad Limited Port-of-Spain Trinidad W.I. 2006-2008

Provided process engineering support to the Structural Lead Engineer on a British Gas, Gas to Liquids Plant project including completing HAZOP, PID, Line List and isometric drawing checks to the 2006 Carapal Unit installation in Central Trinidad in the West Indies.

Implemented process for the development of letdown stations spanning flare and pressurized storage in the main for an island wide natural gas distribution project for The National Gas Company of Trinidad and Tobago to prevent previous unsafe atmospheric venting of both gas and liquid hydrocarbons (components of natural gas feed) through existing Pressure Relief valves and recover heavy hydrocarbon liquids for processing in downstream industries. Senior Chemical /Process Engineer Yara Trinidad Limited a division of Norsk Hydro International Savonetta Trinidad W.I. 1977-2006

Collaborated in meetings as senior process engineering lead / supervisor with plant production managers on revamp projects designed to improve production levels and/or plant efficiencies. As a process engineer, spearheaded the project to recover 450 gallons/minute of water using a process condensate stripper and recovery unit at the Yara Ammonia Plant in 1997. Worked towards preventing a risky investment by completing studies to improve plant operation and uncover an unfeasible equipment add-on in the Tringen 11 (KBR designed) Ammonia Plant of 1986 vintage (Tringen 11 nameplate capacity is rated at 1500 tonnes per day). Promptly changed and implemented a revised operations procedure to steer Tringen 1 from a total shutdown in 1992 as a result of a poor million dollar purchase of an HT Low Temperature Shift catalyst that almost destroyed the plant when an uncontrolled fire raged in the catalyst bed. Completed several smaller projects on time and profitable to the company (projects ranged in size from $US50K to $US600K). Worked outside of normal hours as a production on-call coordinator (six week rotation roster) to keep the plants online and to avoid disastrous operations and/or unscheduled plant shutdowns.
