Problem Statement:

Since the population of the world is increasing day by day, the modernized
technologies are coming into being. Also the diseases in all over the world have been
increasing but the rate of increasing of the diseases is more in no. in underdeveloped
countries than the developed ones.
In response to that a large no. of hospitals has been constructed all over the world
especially in Pakistan.
Although the number of hospitals are rapidly increasing day by day in Gujranwala
District, but these increasing hospitals are not fulfilling the needs of the patients. Most of
the patients are advised to go to some where else like Lahore for their better recurement.
While the Gujranwala DHQ Hospital has enough facilities to handle the patient’s
problems.
So the Provincial Govt. has decided to conduct the research work on the patient’s
requirements & on the facilities which are not available in Gujranwala city so that those
facilities can be provided to the Gujranwala DHQ Hospital.
The rising question is that “What are the problems, faced by the patients, doctors
& hospitals of Gujranwala especially in DHQ Hospital and what are the steps that we can
take in order to resolve those problems?

Research Objectives:
It is very clearly defined that the purpose of this research is to discover;
• What are the factors that have forced the patients to go to other cities like
Lahore for better treatment?
• What are the hurdles that the managements of the Gujranwala hospitals have
to face in order to treat their patients efficiently?
• How the Govt. can utilize the available resources efficiently specially in DHQ
Hospital & in the other hospitals that can increase the patient’s satisfaction
level?

This research will be the source of information for the Govt. about the efficiency
of the hospitals in Gujranwala. And will also show the interest of the Govt. towards the
improvement of Gujranwala hospitals.

Research Design:

Exploratory
We’ll conduct the research about the problems of the patients in the hospitals.
Secondly we’ll target the hurdles of the doctors & the hospitals during their working.
This research will be on the qualities, facilities and the patient’s treatment methods. It
will cover qualitative as well as quantitative areas.
That will include:
• Individual interviews
• Participant observation
 • Case study
• Elite or expertise interviews
• Document analysis

Data Collection Method:

The method of data collection will be based specially on communication with our
respondents. This communication will be in the form of questionnaire.
The questions will be of three types:
1. for general public (special in the hospitals)
2. for doctors
3. for hospitals managers
The population will be divided into public quotas i.e. high, middle & lower levels.
Same will be the case with large, medium, small hospitals and their doctors. Basically it
will be the field surveys during the actual routine of the respondents. There will be the
cross-sectional techniques that will be applied in various times in various places. This
will be a statistical research (that the few variables about the qualities & facilities
provided to and by the hospitals & the doctors). There may be about 15-20 measurement
and investigative questions.

Nature & Form of results:

The nature of the questions will be both of qualitative and quantitative i.e. the
measurement questions will generate the statistical data & results in the form of graphs &
statistical conclusions. The obtaining results will help to conclude the final results about
• What we have to do?
• When it will be done? &
• From where it will be outsourced?
These results will give the complete recommendations with all the possible
proves. Since these results will be concluded under the light of literature review and the
field surveys with all the typical problems and their solutions. So there is no doubt that it
will help to completely to applicate.

Facilities & special resources:

The facilities that will be required are sophisticated questionnaires on best quality paper
and well designed.
There will be the need of special software for statistical applications on data mining like
SPSS.
This research study will also be consisted of specialized Focus groups (if suggested). One
will be among doctors & second will be among knowledgeable public in order to
crystallize the problems & their recommended solutions from their own point of views.
