Fred Nelson The Postal Service---a Service or a Business?"

Eureka native, Fred Nelson, will be our speaker at our January 19th meeting at Baywood Country Club. Fred will inform us on the Postal Service---a Service or a Business?" As a former Eureka Postmaster, retiring in 1985, Fred has an inside perspective on the Postal Service. Mr. Nelson began his career as a "Christmas Helper" in 1944. In 1945, Fred served as a Merchant Seaman for 9 months, which was then followed by a short enlistment in the U.S. Army Air Corps. Many of you may recognize his name from his comments for KINS Radio on alternating Fridays. When you come to the meeting, you will be able to put a face to the name and the voice. Fred continues to keep busy in our community as a driver dispatcher in the local auto industry, where he has worked for over 20 years. He is a member of the Humboldt Harmonaires Barbershop Chorus. Presently, Fred is the Board Chairman of the Humboldt Tea Party Patriots. Fred and his wife, Rita, have been married for 60 years and have four children, ve grandchildren and one great grandchild.

National Legislation
Watch out, Obamas at it again. He brought us to the brink last August with doom and gloom, saying failure to raise the national debt ceiling would cut education for our children, cut Social Security bene ts for our seniors, and cut the number of police o cers just to name a few of his supposed scenarios, if we didnt insist Congress raise the national debt ceiling. He got his way and the ceiling stands at $15.194 TRILLION. Now Obama says we are only $100,000 BILLION from that ceiling and he needs another $1.2 TRILLION! The current debt owed by each and every American is already $132,744thats $48,000 added since he became president, a 36% increase! Has your income risen by 36% in the last three yearsjust to pay o the debt increase? I dont think so! But it likely has happened for Obama, his minions, and certain congressional members who parlay insider information to make huge pro ts. As you probably know, Congress has made it LEGAL for themselves to do what is a CRIME for the rest of us. Martha Stewart cant be too happy about that. There is a disconnect between what Americans want and what Obama is determined to get. A current Rasmussen poll shows 77% of Americans want DEFICITS CUT, 71% want SPENDING CUT, and 59% want TAXES CUT. What part of CUT doesnt the president understand? Obama and Company are at it again, blaming the Republicans. If congressional Republicans dont pass his latest demand, they will be blamed and ridiculed. If the bill is passed, Obama will take credit for saving us again! Outrageous, yet he is able to convince nave, uninformed, and yes, just plain stupid voters that he is working for us! Our second president, John Adams, in the last year of his life, said, THERE ARE TWO WAYS TO ENSLAVE A NATION. ONE IS BY SWORD. THE OTHER IS BY DEBT. Thank you -- together we can do this!

Jan. 4: A legal battle is shaping up over Barack Obamas unconstitutional power grab, the unprecedented recess appointment of former Ohio Atty. Gen. Richard Cordray to head the new Consumer Financial Protection Agency, followed by three more recess appointments - this time to the National Labor Relations Board. Both moves infuriated GOP leaders, who threatened legal action and warned that Obama was setting a dangerous precedent by ignoring the will of Congress, which was technically still in session. The Hill reports that The recess appointments broke with legal precedent, as they while the Senate is holding regular pro forma sessions. Republicans insist the Senate has not been in recess thanks to the seconds-long sessions held every few days, but White House attorneys determined the procedural move is a gimmick that can be ignored by the president. Speaker Boehner called the appointment an extraordinary and entirely unprecedented power grab, and noted that the position had not been lled for one reason: the agency it heads is bad for jobs and bad for the economy.

Presidents Message

e hear so much controversy regarding the separation of church and State. It is as though members of the ACLU have never studied our founding documents or the way religion and morality were viewed by government leaders during the birth of our nation. An early American historian, W. P. Strickland, commented on the necessity of the Bible and preserving the freedom of religion. Who will charge the government with indi erence to religion when the rst Congress of the States assumed all the rights and performed all duties of a Bible society long before such an institution had an existence in the world?" Part of George Washingtons Farewell Address in 1796 included these powerful words. Of all the dispositions and habits which lead to political prosperity, religion and morality are indispensable supports. He also posed this question. Where is the security of property, for reputation, for life, if the sense of religious obligation desert the oaths of which are the instruments of investigation in courts of justice?" How far we have strayed from the morality set before us by those men of virtue, who formed this nation under God. Our prayers must include asking God for help to heal our nation as it stands today.

Food for Thought

Napa Valley RWF President Gaylon Kastner swears in our 2012 O cers at our November 2011 General Meeting. From left to right: Margaret Sta ord, Mary Jerland, Carol Del Biaggio, Sheryl Fearrien, Gwen Morris, and Debbie Walker.

ith the New Year ringing in, we nd ourselves in 2012! Upon re ection, we are truly reminded of Gods grace on us, our families, friends and America. The state of our HRWF Club is strong and very active. Novembers installation of new o cers was an exciting event. We had a very nice show of support by members and guests, which we truly appreciate! Our CFRW-ND Convention was held in Sacramento in November with ve members attending-Gwen Morris, Rose Welsh, Jean Giannini, and I. Elections of O cers were held and Kathy Rodriguez was elected to CFRW/ND Membership Secretary. We were honored again with the Diamond Award for 2010-2011, the highest level that NFRW bestows. We were also awarded a Certi cate of Participation from the national contest of Caring for America for our coupon project and supporting Socks for Soldiers, plus a local Certi cate of Honor from Socks for Soldiers."

Our Annual Incoming-Outgoing O cers Meeting - where we plot a course for the coming year. We welcome Amanda Sachs, Esther Smith Holmes new Co-Chaplain.

Our commitment level is high. At the December incoming/outgoing luncheon meeting at my home, eighteen vibrant gals attended and only a few missed the action and team meeting. Reservations are made for the January 21st Leadership Workshop in Sacramento with six board members making the trip to gather inspiration, tips, share ideas and network with members of 58 northern clubs. Im excited by the teams participation! Serious issues are at hand with the current President, power grabs, economy and our basic survival. We are here with a big task at hand and November in full view. This is the most important election in everyones lifetime, Republican or not! Our volunteer women are most generous with their time, involvement, funding and excitement for our projects ~ we all bene t from participation with the goal of victory on Nov. 6th, 2012! Join the team!

ODE TO THE WELFARE STATE This dates from a 1949 'pie-for-everybody speech' by Pres. Truman, continuing FDR's disastrous "New Deal." Put into the Congressional Record by Rep. Clarence J. Brown (R-Ohio) ...true then and true today... "Father, must I go to work?" "No, my lucky son. We're living now on Easy Street on dough from Washington. "We've left it up to Uncle Sam, so don't get exercised. Nobody has to give a damn-We've all been subsidized!" "But if Sam treats us all so well and feeds us milk and honey; Please, daddy, tell me what the hell he's going to use for money?" "Don't worry, son, there's not a hitch in this here noble plan-He simply soaks the lthy rich and helps the common man." "But, father, won't there come a time when they run out of cash And we have left them not a dime when things will go to smash?" "My faith in you is shrinking, son, you nosy little brat! You do too damn much thinking, boy, to be a Democrat!" -----------DID YA KNOW? Christmas was declared a federal holiday in the United States on June 26, 1870.... So, if the feds declared it a holiday, how can it now be illegal to display Christmas scenes on their property??? We Christians need to le a class action suit and sue the ACLU and every politically correct (but morally wrong) judge and government o cial for religious persecution.

majority slightly reduced. Republicans will take the U.S. Senate. Of the 23 Democratic seats up in 2012, there are at least ve vulnerable incumbents (Florida, Michigan, Missouri, Montana, Pennsylvania): The GOP takes two or three of these. With the announcement on Tuesday that Nebraska's Ben Nelson will retire, there are now seven open Democratic seats (Connecticut, Hawaii, North Dakota, New Mexico, Virginia, Wisconsin): The GOP takes three or four. Even if Republicans lose one of the 10 seats they have up, they will have a net pickup of four to six seats, for a majority of 51 to 53. Scandals surrounding the now-bankrupt Solyndra, Fannie and Freddie, MF Global and administration insider deals still to emerge will metastasize, demolishing the president's image as a political outsider. By the election, the impression will harden that Mr. Obama is a modern Chicago-style patronage politician, using taxpayer dollars to reward political allies (like unions) and contributors (like Obama fund-raiser and Solyndra investor George Kaiser). Rep. Nancy Pelosi, Sen. Harry Reid or both will leave the Democratic leadership by the end of 2012. Speaker John Boehner and Senator Mitch McConnell will continue directing the GOP in their respective chambers....Read the full article, the link is on our website: hrwf-ca.org.

Advocate Allison Olson notes the many successes of CFRW, (One of the exciting achievements was the passage of Prop 26. With this safety net, Democrats in Sacramento cannot raise taxes, fees, charges, or anything else they might disguise a levy as without a 2/3rds majority vote. This proposition has already saved the California tax payer from several proposed tax increases and will prove to be useful again next year during budget season. Another victory for Republican Women was the demise of SB 810 (Leno, D-3), otherwise known as Universal Healthcare for Californians.) but, Allison notes that our work is just beginning. 2012 is a pivotal year, not just for the nation, but also for us here in California. The general election ballot will be tough to navigate with what will likely be a record number of propositions to vote on. Couple that with a tension- lled legislative session and budget de cit gap of biblical proportions and we are at an all-out war for our states future. She says,"We need all hands on deck and all eyes keeping a watch on our government. As your CFRW Legislative Advocate, I urge you to remain educated and informed on the issues important to us as Republican Women through our weekly Capitol Update. If there is a Call to Action in the Capitol Update, we must act immediately! That means letters, emails, faxes, phone calls, and a bombardment of support or opposition depending on the issue. I know that we can make a di erence in 2012, and while a presidential change is necessary, we cannot overlook the challenges in our state." In early December, the Capitol Resource Institute and other pro-family organizations submitted an initiative to the Attorney General to counter the e ects of SB 48. If you will recall, the referendum to repeal SB 48 fell short of the signatures necessary to put the measure on the ballot. But unfazed by the hurdle, the same organizations have this time led an initiative e ort. They hope to curb some of the harmful e ects of SB 48. SB 48 mandates that by 2015 all social science textbooks from Kindergarten to 12th grade include a gay-history chapter in publically funded California schools. The initiative will assure that lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and other minority gures are not excluded from inclusion in California curriculum while requiring accurate historical portrayals of all individuals. Visit www.stopsb48.com for more information.
Signature gatherers will be needed for this initiative soon, so if you are interested in helping, please email the CFRW Legislative Advocate at advocate@cfrw.org.
