The new Volvo FM, a truck that is suited to both demanding regional operations and speedy distribution duties. Smooth drive and well suspended chassis takes good care of the cargo, while theres plenty of power for high gross weights. The Volvo FM has long been the drivers choice with its comfortable cab and low entry. Now it also has an updated exterior, a new grille and more powerful headlamps. Our new truck is naturally equipped with economical and easily driven engines. Last but not least theres I-Shift for superior gear changing comfort and fuel economy.
D13 Powerful and responsive The 13-litre engine has the power you need to maintain a steady cruising speed even with high combination weights on hilly roads. The long stroke provides massive power from low revs. The power is delivered quickly. At 800 r/min, no less than 60% of torque is available within just one second. The engines high torque means it is possible to t rear axles with a selection of fast ratios without raising engine revs. This has a positive effect on fuel consumption. The D13 is available with power outputs of 400, 440 and 480 hp for Euro 3. Extended Day and Sleeper Cabin The Volvo FM series offers various cabs to choose between Volvos cabs are the drivers choice, renowned for their high comfort and standard of interior climate, heating and ventilation. All the cabs are well-insulated and quiet. They feature four-point suspension with dampers and coil or air springs to prevent shake and vibration from reaching through to the cab frame. All the cabs have low, convenient, illuminated entries and doors that open wide, no less than 90 degrees. Sleeper cab Comfortable overnight accommodation. Generous sleeping space for one person and the option of an upper bunk. Spacious interior combined with considerable driver comfort. Day cab Comfortable and well-adapted drivers environment. Short-stay bunk available as an option. Low, comfortable entry. A robust cab where the entrance and drivers environment are of the highest class.

Volvo Safety Cabin The most common accident scenarious include a full frontal collision or a roll-over accident. In these, as well as in other accidents in which the cab is strucky by an external object, the cabins primary task is to transfer energy to the rear through the cabin in order to maintain sufcient survival space inside.

Effective transmission Volvos wide range of gearboxes offer exceptional driveability, low power losses and long service life. Easy-change manual gearboxes - low noise and smooth to operate. Powertronic - a fully automatic planetary transmission. Torque converter for secure starts and smooth gear changes under all conditions. New I-Shift, with more built-in intelligence, offers premium convenience and driveability - and further fuel savings. New Enhanced Performance option adds extra capability on bad roads operation and high reliability.

Strong rear axles All Volvo rear axles combine high strength with low weight. Different lock is tted as standard. Tandem axles have an additional differential lock between the axles. Single-reduction rear axles with hypoid type nal drive for quiet operation and high reliability. Extremely durable hub-reduction axles, optimized for small drive losses. Maintenance-free wheel bearings and long oil-change intervals reduce service costs.

Instruments and controls The driver area is ergonomically designed with a good layout of the instruments and controls, which are easily accessible. The instruments are of the conventional type with gauges for oil pressure, voltage, coolant temperature, fuel, turbo pressure and brake pressure. There is also a Driver Information System and Tip computer-fuel economy meter. Standard features includes 1 Day tachograph for registration of vehicle speed and engine speed, cruise control, steering wheel adjustment and steering column.

VEB braking power What goes up must come down. Available on the Volvo FM, Volvo Engine Brake, VEB promotes safer driving downhill and saves the wheel brakes. With its unique design, VEB gives you up to incredible 300kW of braking power at 2300 rpm - for improved safety and greater on-the-job condence. Whats more, VEB works just as well in low speed as it does in high speed, making it an ideal solution for additional brakes in construction.
