What are the causes of poverty? Poverty has many causes to begin with.

In my res earch, I will name some of major ones: Bad education, Warfare, and Corruption. I will also show you the pros and cons of Poverty and two different points of vie ws of poverty. 1. Bad education

Dropping out of school or failing to achieve a basic education is one of the cau ses of Poverty. In common sense, we all know then you re chances of employment are v ery restricted and low. The reasons why students dropped out of school are because: Trouble at Poverty ut so they Failing in Because of home divorce, death, alcoholism, drugs, disabled family members people who are hungry know they need money to buy food; many people drop o can work and help the family school and can t keep up this, people who dropout usually has low annual income. For example:

Pennsylvania Partnerships for Children (PPC) on Oct 23, 2008 released a report that showed that young people who drop out of high school are twice as likely to live in poverty as youth who have received a high school diploma, and three times as likely as youth who have attended some college or earned an asso ciate's degree. In Pennsylvania, young people who drop out of school can expect their annual earnings to be a little less than half those of a college graduate with a bachelor's degree. This means drops outs can expect $19,000 as their annual ea rnings and a Bachelor degree holder can expect $45,000 as their annual earnings. The Census bureau also reports: Only 9.6% of High School graduates are poor compared to the 22.2% of those without a diploma. The economic consequences of the dropout crisis are clear and it is definitely o ne of the causes of poverty.

2.

Warfare Warfare s Destruction in Society

The material and human destruction caused by warfare is a major devel opment problem. Warfare can cause destruction of a growing economy, higher taxes, and more which results in poverty. Also, because warfare can disrupt children from their education and cause teachers to run absent, this can also be a reason for dropouts and bad employment opportunities. For example, from 1990 to 1993, the period encompassing Desert Storm, per capita GDP in Iraq fell from $3500 to $761.

Also, the Civil war has been identified as one of the main causes for the persistence of poverty in many regions of the world (Collier 2007): war dam ages infrastructure (basic physical and organizational structures and facilities

like roads, building, etc.), institutions and production, economic resources, b reaks up communities and networks, and kills and injures people. The impact of war may be terrible. Many may suffer immediate pain, ho rror, destruction and death. 3. Corruption Corruption is the abuse of public office for personal gain or illegal or immoral benefit. Corruption is both a major cause and a result of poverty around the world. It oc curs at all levels of society, from local and national governments, civil societ y, judiciary functions, large and small businesses, military and other services and so on. Corruption affects the poorest the most, in rich or poor nations, though all ele ments of society are affected in some way as corruption undermines political dev elopment, democracy, economic development, the environment, people s health and more . Corruption is germinated because of two major factors. Greed for money and position The corrupt nature and mentality acquired by birth. These are the factors operate and inspire to promote corruption. The corruption is the result of a corrupted mind. Here is how corruption causes poverty according to usaid.gov,
