Professional Graduate Diploma in

Digital Forensics & Cyber Security

Forensics, or forensic science, is the application of science to questions that are of interest to the legal system. Digital forensics is the analysis of computers and other types of digital media to determine if they have been used for illegal or unauthorized activities, or if they are the victims of illegal attacks. Business and industry use digital forensics to gather internal information regarding intellectual property theft, fraud, network and computer intrusions, and unauthorized use of computers and other digital media including fax machines, answering machines, personal data assistants, cell phones, etc. to assist in employee termination, and both civil and criminal litigation. Law enforcement agencies use digital forensics to gather digital evidence for a variety of crimes including child pornography, fraud, terrorism, extortion, cyber stalking, and money laundering, forgery, and identity theft. The military and government intelligence agencies use digital forensics to gather intelligence information from computers captured during military actions. Digital Forensic is a growing industry, with many career opportunities, with every year the investment and reporting of cyber-crime is on the increase.

Criminology and investigation Techniques This unit will allow you to understand the key areas of criminology. Criminology studies how crime is developed and the crime characteristics, which is useful in developing the investigation framework and process. The participant will be coached in the various investigation techniques that is employed by practitioners in digital forensics and how to employ them effectively in real cases. Furthermore, the participant will also study the electronic laws to be able to gather the right information for prosecution. This unit will benefit the participant by acquiring the digital forensic skill to trace, investigate and nail the criminals in court. Digital Forensics This unit is an introduction to many of the tools and techniques used in computer forensics. Computer evidence is often not accessible by usual access methods, so specialized software tools and techniques must be employed to recover this. Modern computer forensics involves the preservation, identification and analysis of computer based evidence stored in the form of magnetically encoded information Cyber Security Cyber security is a set of principles and practices designed to safeguard your computing assets and online information from cyber threats. Cyber security standards enable organizations to practice safe security techniques to minimize the number of successful cyber crimes which can range from the use of malicious software or exploiting vulnerabilities to steal assets such as credit card or identity information, Identity theft and protection, Anti-phishing, biometric security, fraud or the deliberate destruction of data on an individual computer or network. The aim of this course is to equip students with a broad view of cyber security as information security and to understand the nature of the attacks and attackers that you might face Using Case studies from security practices, the course provides students with the tools and techniques for developing counter measures to defend and prevent cyber attacks including virus protection, wireless security and data protection. enterprise network Security Enterprise networks today rely on technologies developed and refined over the last two decades. The aim of this course is to equip students with the skills to conduct Technology Review & Security Design Considerations for their respective organization. It will covers the key security framework, capabilities, and risks associated with the most commonly deployed services.
