As a fabric manufacturer, GHCL India has state of the art machinery from Reiter (Switzerland), Schlafhorst (Germany) and Muratec (Japan), among others which lends that cutting edge in quality. Schlafhorst (Germany) is world famous with the fiber spinning equipment and solutions. GHCLs efficient team is familiar with all production processes from selection of suitable raw material, optimization of spinning components to enhancement of the yarn strength. Such effective process coupled with higher power spinning technology, has resulted in the manufacture of premium quality home textile at GHCL LTD. HISTORY OF MEENAKSHI MILLS The SREE MEENAKSHI MILLS LTD (SMML) originally promoted by late Karumuthu Thiagarajan Chettiar SMML had a composite textile mill at Madurai and two spinning units at Paravai and Manaparai, all in TAMILNADU, with an aggregate installer capacity of 88,752 spindles, 384 rotors and 260 looms. In October 1982, SMML was taken over by SANJAY DALMIA GROUP (SDG). The dalmia group of company is one of Indias oldest and most distinguished business house with its motto enterprise without frontiers intrinsically graved in all its activities. The house of dalmia was founded by late Sri Ramakrishna Dalmia in early 20th century. The legacy which was passed on to Mr. Vishnu Hari Dalmia in new further strengthened and expanded by his sons Mr. Sanjay Dalmia (chairman) and Mr.Anuragdalmia (vice chairman). Today it has been evolved into dynamic and globally, progressive corporate entity. The core areas of the group are textile, soda ash, health care, IT and tobacco. In 2001, SMML merged with GHCL LTD. After the merge the company increased its production capacity to the level of 33 tons per day.
