Welcome With the start of the New Year, it would not be surprising to have a large turnout for your first HG of 2012. Take advantage of this & give your group a special welcome. Poppers & noise-makers could be used to ring in the start of your HG in 2012!! Make it fun & memorable! Opening Prayer Pray a special prayer of blessing on your HG for 2012. Ask for God to change every member of your group so that they would be used by God to change their world. Dedicate your HG to God in this New Year!

Family Time What are you most looking forward to in 2012? Does God know what will happen to you this year? How does that make you feel knowing that He has a plan for you? What are some ways that you can listen to God & hear His plans for your daily life? Did you know that right now we could pick up the phone & call someone on the other side of the world? (Depending on the time & person you call, you might actually try to call one of our PBC missionaries. Check with your Shepherd or with Roger Sappington to get contact numbers & be sure to let them know that you will be calling.) Lets give them a call & tell them that we love them & were praying for them this year! Let the kids ask your missionary questions. Kids Time How do you keep up with your family members that live out of town? Why is calling them on the phone better than sending an email? (You get to hear their voice, hear them laugh, really talk to each other, etc.) The more often you talk to your family far away, the closer you feel, right? Well, God doesnt call us with a phone, but He does speak to us by His Holy Spirit & by the Word of God. The more we talk to God in prayer & in the Word, the closer we feel to Him & the more we really get to know Him. Lets talk to God right now, tell Him how special He is & how much we love Him? Take time to help your kids memorize Scripture that tells the Gospel. In this way, our children will be ready to help their friends come into a saving relationship with Jesus Christ. Suggested verses: John 3:16, Romans 3:23, Romans 6:23, Romans 5:8. *Use a whiteboard to help them visualize the verse. Have fun! Make learning Gods Word a joy! Adult Time Some people play church & some people are the Church. Whats the difference? How do you know that you are a child of God? Besides remembering the time when you prayed to receive Christ as Savior, how do you know for sure that you are truly saved? Why is this an important question? (Salvation is not a club membership; it is life-change.) When God called your name & you answered (trusted in Christ), was there an immediate change in your lifestyle, habits, etc.? (Ask people to share stories of life-change at salvation.) Why does following Christ result in life-change? If a person claims to be saved & yet they see no life-change, what could that mean? Read Luke 9:23-24 together & talk about what it means to take up your cross...what could that look like in your life in 2012? Prayer Time God, help us to stop playing church & start being the church...change us so that we are changing the world. Give us a renewed hunger for holiness & a growing compassion for our community. Break into gender groups & pray for one another that we might listen for & respond to Gods call on our lives.
