INDICATIONS
CONTRAINDICATIONS ADVERSE EFFECTS OF THE DRUG y NURSING RESPONSIBILITIES/ PRECAUTIONS If any of these effects persist or worsen, tell the doctor or pharmacist promptly. Remember that the doctor has prescribed this medication because he or she has judged that the benefit is greater than the risk of side effects. Immediately notify your physician if you notice any symptoms of a serious allergic reaction, including: rash, itching/swelling (especially of the face/tongue/throat), severe dizziness, trouble breathing. This is not a complete list of possible side effects. Tell the doctor immediately if any of these rare but very serious side effects occur: tingling of the hands/feet, hearing problems, trouble swallowing, muscle weakness, seizures. A very serious allergic reaction to this drug is rare.

Generic Name:

TETANUS TOXOID
Brand Name: Antitet Classification: EPI vaccine, Anti-tetanus Dosage: 0.5ml at least four weeks apart. Route: IM Frequency: Booster doses at 18 months, 5 years, 10 years and 16 years and then every 10 years.

An active immunizing agent prepared from detoxified tetanus toxin that produces an antigenic response in the body, conferring permanent immunity to tetanus infection.

It is prescribed for primary active immunization against tetanus, generally in combination with diphtheria and pertussis vaccines. To actively immunize all children from the age of 6 weeks onwards. To protect infants against the risks of tetanus neonatorum by immunizing pregnant mothers

Immunosuppressant or immunoglobulin abnormalities, acute infection, or illness prohibits its use. Contraindicated if you or your child has: history of severe reaction to vaccine (e.g., paralysis, encephalopathy) bleeding disorders (e.g., hemophilia, low platelets), history of Guillain-Barre syndrome, high fever (higher than 103 degrees F/39 degrees C) after previous vaccination, other reaction (e.g., swelling, itching at injection site).

Mild fever, joint pain, muscle aches, nausea, tiredness, or pain/itching/swelling/red ness at the injection site may occur.
