What are your broad career objectives ?

(100 words) Being an engineer, I have strong aptitude to critically analyze and interpret situations. I am looking forward to augment my engineering skills with those of business management in International Business as a higher career prospect with perseverance, character, grit and determination. My holistic objective is to transform myself into complete professional, having high standard of competence and ethics, thought leadership, a responsible team player with initiative who can contribute meaningfully to the economy and society. I aspire to enhance my ability to communicate, analyze situations using quantitative and qualitative factors, develop a holistic view of the different functional areas of the business administration. What do you think are your important strengths in the context of your application to IIFT's programme and weaknesses that might stand against you ? ( 75 words) My strength : I am a perseverant person who believes in marching ahead in life with courage and determination. I also believe in utilising advice and criticisms for the betterment of career. I am quite sure that my above strength will help me to do justice with the hight quality parameter set by IIFT. My weaknesses : Thought, i have good language skills, I feel the need of betterment in my clarity of elocution. I am an emotional person as a result of which I find myself in dilemma when it comes to decision making in case of personal relations. However, I try to become rational and logical under such circumstances, which subsides my emotionality to a considerable extent. Describe one/two incidents in your life that radically changed your approach/outlook to life ? (100 words) In job, I performed with sincerity and target driven approach. But sometimes, I had to handle open criticisms regarding my approach to work although the work was complete. At first, I took it in a negative way but later realised that each and every word what was said to me was worth considering and by paying heed to the recommendations, there was clear-cut improvement in my performance. I came to know that accepting criticism in a positive way is the best way to point and weed out mistakes and enhances the quality of work. It is rightly said, "A critic is your best friend." What do you expect to learn from your fellow participants at IIFT ? (100 words) Since IIFT would have participants from different learning environment, I expect enrichment of my process of learning through the exchange of thoughts and competencies. There are many clubs like Brandwagon, Cashonova, Blash and Koshish on marketing, finance, trade and NGO which will help me to learn new things and diversifying my areas of interest. I expect to learn different variables in group dynamics and team management which is possible without good rapport and understanding with my fellow participants. Do you think that the Indian value system has changed over the years? (150 words) Traditionally, Indians have laid high stress on values like peaceful co-existence, spirituality, deference to others, recourse to nature, artistic expression, seeking prosperity, strong family ties, respecting even the tools of trade, joyousness and hospitality. Prayer is a daily ritual. The elders have always been taken care of, at home and it is generally the eldest who makes important decisions for the family, be it a financial matter or a relationship. Most celebrations and happy occasions are bright and colourful. Indian society has always focussed on paying your debt to society and being responsible for one's family and rather than breaking away to pursue our own individual desires. Individualism and materialism is more of a western value. with increasing western influences, the conflict between individualism and fulfilling social obligations is great, especially for the younger generation. Younger generation is living in a competitive world where being practical is considered as a virtue which has lead to increase in stressful life, materialsm, disrespect to elders and opportunism. On this basis, the Indian value system has changed considerably. In a conflict resolution stage involving your career, do you rank morality or practicality higher? (150 words) For me, morals are guiding principles that determine my evaluation of what is right and wrong. they are responsible for a lar ger part ones' instantaneous response to the situation. For me, practicality means the aspects of a situation that involves the actual doing or experience of something rather than moral ideas. But being practical under certain situation demands deviation from my morals which means a sort of compromise. With such a compromise, i may be able to come out of a conflicting situation but may get trapped in vicious circle of compromises which lead to deterioration of morals and is a zero-sum game. At the same time being practical does not totally mean los of moral values. It also means being smarter or diplomatic. Here again, diplomacy does not mean the adeptness with which we can speak a lie but in fact it is the adeptness with which we can speak the truth . So, I would rank morality rather than practicality.
