25 sts + 30 rows = 4 in. (10 cm) in Stockinette st (k on right side, p on wrong side). BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you less stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

Rows 7 and 8: K2, *p3, k3; rep from * to last 2 sts, k2. Row 9: Rep Row 6. Row 10: Rep Row 5. Row 11: Rep Row 4. Row 12: Rep Row 3. Rows 13 and 14: Rep Row 1. Rows 15 and 16: Rep Rows 11 and 12.
