The militia was founded in 1994 by `the merger of several upper-caste private armies such as the Savarna Liberation
front and the Sunlight Sena' [Rama] in order to combat Maoist Dalit organisations. It is essentially the Brahmin
private army of Bihar. Enjoying clandestine Government support, the organisation is devoted to anti-Dalit terrorism
and the preservation of the Vedic apartheid system. Its militiamen are known to be heavily armed with the most

ii) Justice DP Madon: Bhiwandi and Jalgaon riots in 1970. "I found that a section of Hindu elements,

accompanying the procession was not so much to pay respects to the Great Shivaji but to establish
their right and, if possible, to provoke and humiliate Muslims. .

iii) Justice Vithayathil: Tellicherry riots in December 1971. "In Tellicherry the Hindus and Muslims
were living as brothers for centuries. The ‘Mopla riots’ did not affect the cordial relationship that
existed between the two communities in Tellicherry. It was only after the RSS and the Jana Sangh
set up their units and began activities in Tellicherry that there came a change in the situation.

iv) Justice Jitender Narayan: Jamshedpur riots in December 1971. "Sanyukt Bajrang Bali Akhara
Samiti" who systematically distributed pamphlets to heighten communal feelings and had
organisational links with the RSS. A survey had already established that all policemen, havaldars,
home guards etc. were at heart ready to give support to them (Hindu communalist organisations).

v) Justice Venugopal Commission: Kanyakumari riots in 1982. "The RSS adopts a militant and
aggressive attitude and sets itself up as the champion of what it considers to be the rights of
Hindus against minorities. It has taken upon itself to teach the minorities their place and if they are
not willing to learn their place to teach them a lesson. .

is a shame that in the land of Gandhi, Buddha,
Kabir and Nanak, hatred is being spread in the
name of religion. We need to respect all religions
in equal measure, and not hate others religions.
