A MINOR PROJECT ON SCR FIRING CIRCUITS BOARD

Abstract:-

This project shows how we can vary firing angle of SCR to control the power through load. Those circuits which are being used for this purpose are called triggering circuits.

There are several types of triggering circuits which are mostly used to control the firing angle of thyristor (SCR).Some of them are as follows

Resistance firing circuit. Resistance-capacitance firing circuit. Unijunction transistor firing circuit

DESCRIPTION :-

1. Resistance firing circuit. This circuit is simplest method of varying the trigger angle and therefore power in the load

Circuit Diagram:-

Component required: Variable Resistance,diode,thyristor

2. Resistance-capacitance firing circuit. By the Resistance-capacitance circuit a large variation in the value of the firing angle can be obtained by changing the phase and amplitude of gate current. By varying the resistance the firing angle can be controlled from zero degree to 180 degree.

Components required:Variable Resistance, capacitance, diode

3. Unijunction Transistor firing circuit:The UJT is often used as a trigger device for SCRs and TRIAC. The most common UJT circuit in use today is the relaxation oscillator circuit, also this type of circuit is basic to other timing and trigger circuit.
