Admission into M.Tech., M.S. & PhD programs is very flexible at IIIT. A student with an Engineering or Science degree in any field/area can seek admission into any other field/area for higher studies. Admission Procedure
Admission to PG programmes will be on the basis of the performance at the Post-Graduate And PhD Entrance Examination (PGEE 2012) and an interview to be held at Hyderabad. (Note : For MS and Ph.D programmes, exceptional candidates may be called directly for the interview on the basis of their qualification and experience. For details of application visit http://www.iiit.ac.in/admissions/postgraduate/standingpg) About Post-Graduate Entrance Examination (PGEE 2012): An all-India examination to test the preparedness of the applicants will be held on 15 April, 2012. The examination will be held at Hyderabad and a number of major cities in the country depending on the number of applicants from each region. The entrance examination will consist of two papers. Paper I test the general aptitude of the candidate and will consist of objective questions from Mathematics, Programming, and Logical Reasoning. Paper II is the Subject Paper, which tests the candidate's subject knowledge.

How To Apply ?
All applications should be submitted online in PGEE portal To submit the application, a candidate has to complete two registration forms: Pre-Registration Form and Main Registration Form.

Filling of Pre-Registration Form.(Click here) After filling the Pre-Registration form, the candidate receives an E-Mail which contains the link and identification code. The link should be opened in a browser by supplying the identification code to fill in the Main Registration Form.

Filling of Main Registration Form. The main registration form can only be filled by opening the link received through the E-Mail, after filling in the preceeding pre-registration form.

Important Notes :

Note that the Registration WILL NOT be considered until the candidate completes the Main Registration Form. After filling in the Main Registration Form, the candidate gets an Acknowledgement E-Mail, which confirms that the registration is complete. The purpose of Pre-Pregistration Form is to Confirm the E-Mail address. So it is very important to give a valid E-Mail ID as it will be used for later communication. Note that the candidate can also update the information such as program details and center till their application has been finalized, by following the same link which has been received after filling in pre-registration form. Everytime you update or modify your information you will get an Updated Acknowledge Mail. Most important, please check the acknowledgement E-Mails in your "Bulk" or "Junk" folders, because sometimes the mails may go there. Application will be considered valid only after the Pre-Registration and MainRegistration form is completed, and the application fee is received by IIIT-H.

About Application Fees:


Applicants can apply for one or more programmes in the same form by indicating choices. The application fee is Rs. 1000/- for one programme and Rs. 50/- extra for each additional programme applied for. Application fee can be paid either through Credit Card or through Demand Draft. o Credit Card - While filling-in the Main Registration form, the candidate can opt for Credit Card option follow the subsequent instruction. o Demand Draft- While filling-in the Main Registration form, the candidate can opt for Demand Draft option. After submitting the Main Registration form.Demand Draft in favor of IIIT, Hyderabad for appropriate amount should be drawn.A candidate must write application number (received in the confirmation mail) along with the name on the reverse side of the demand draft and send the same to the Chairman, PG Admissions, IIIT, Gachibowli, Hyderabad-500032, Andhra Pradesh.

Computational Natural Sciences and Bioinformatics Selection for interview for the streams (i) Bioinformatics and (ii) Computational Natural Sciences will be based on the score in this paper and the score in the general aptitude test. This examination paper comprises of three sections: Physics, Chemistry, Biology & Bioinformatics, (physics and chemistry only for Post-B.Sc. programmes) and students, depending on their background are expected to attempt any one Section as a major and another section as a minor part. Structural Engineering
1. A short CI column of hollow circular section has projecting bracket carrying a load of 10 tonnes. The load line is off the column by 20cm. What is the model of entrance examination? General Aptitude Examination (1 1/2 hrs duration) will be objective type paper and subject paper (1 1/2 hrs duration) will be Subjective/Descriptive/Objective paper.

4. I completed the application process using the portal. How do I know my application has been received? You will receive an email from pgadmissions@iiit.ac.in within 24 hours of your application, giving your Application Number and other details. You need to keep this email safe for future reference. 5. Yes, you need to write application number on the Bank draft and on every correspondence with IIIT, Hyd. 9. I want to apply for part-time courses. Is the entrance exam same for part-time programmes and full time programmes? A. Yes, you have to appear for the same entrance examination for part-time or full time programmes. However, while interview your experience and interest will be taken into account. 10. I have written 'O' level exam of DOE appeared. Am I eligible for M.Tech (CSE)? Any degree that is recognized officially as equivalent to any mentioned in the eligbility section should be OK. Our M.Tech. and Ph.D. programmes are open to anyone with a BE/BTech, ME/MTech, MCA and Masters in Science. 11. Should Computational Linguistics applicants write the PG Entrance Examination? For applicants from Linguistics and languages background entering into M.Tech, PhD in linguistics programmes, there will be separate exam for Linguitcs at IIIT, Hyd in the last week of June 2012.

12. For PhD is there any entrance exam? Are GATE candidates are exempted? All candidates should appear for entrance exam. Candidates with exceptional record may be called directly for the interview. You will be notified of this in the month of June 2012. 13. Can outstation candidates do PhD part-time? Part-time courses are only for professionals in the local area. There is an External Registration PhD Programme for outstation candidates working in those institutions/companies which have a research environment and adequate infrastructure to do research. They can apply for PhD giving details about their work place, and the name and resume of a person who will be able to guide the work at their work place. They might have to submit a letter from the employer sponsoring them for the PhD programme. 14. Where can i get Post B.Sc programme details? For Post B.Sc Programs details please visit http://ccnsb.iiit.ac.in/faq.html 15. My MCA final semester completes by May 2012. Am I eligible for PG admission this year? Eligibility criteria mentioned against each programme must be met by June 30, 2012. 16. What is the syllabus for entrance exam? Syllabus for entrance exam will be available on our website. 17. I want to apply for more than one category. But I have a DD for Rs.1000 only. You can apply for more than one category using your DD for Rs. 1000. However, while sending your draft, attach another draft worth (Rs. difference money) and write your application number on the reverse side of both drafts. your application is considered valid only after we receive the fee as mentioned in our intimation letter. For details regarding fee click here. e.g. your first DD is for Rs. 1000 and you had applied for 4(=1+3) programmes i.e., your application fee is now Rs. 1150(=1000+3*50). In this case, you take another DD for Rs. 150 and attach with DD of Rs. 1000 and write application number on the reverse side of both the DD's and send them before 22 March 2012. You can send these DD's independently also. However, both the DD's should have application number on the reverse side. 18. What is the fee structure for part-time programmes? Part-time students must pay the Student Status Fees (currently Rs. 12,500/- per semester) and the per-course fee (currently Rs. 12,500/-) for each course they register for. During thesis work, fee will be charged based on the number of research credits.

19. I did BTech in CS. Can I join directly for PhD programme? Yes. The CSE Ph.D. programmes are open to anyone with a bachelors degree in engineering, MCA, or masters degree in science. 20. Whose names should I give as my references? References should be the people who can judge your ability and fitness to pursue PG/PhD programmes. You should ask someone who knows you well enough to write something substantial about you, including your creativity, intelligence and ability to do research. 21. Is there any time limit for completing part-time MTech? Minimum of 6 semesters and a maximum of 10 semesters. 22. If I have a valid GATE score, can I get the scholarship? No,GATE scholarship is not available from this year. 23. Will there be any examination centre in Delhi/Mumbai/Bangalore/Calcutta? All-India Post-Graduate Entrance Examination will be held at Hyderabad, Delhi, Bangalore, Mumbai and Calcutta. 24. Do you have any hostel facilities? Yes, we provide hostel facility to all students. The full-time programmes are compulsorily residential. For research programmes (MS/PhD), this requirement could be waved by the Dean based on each case. 25. I am married and I have a kid. Can I stay on campus? Family accommodations are not currently available on campus. However, apartments and houses are available for rent in the vicinity. 26. Tell me more about financial support for the PG programmes. Teaching and research assistantships are available at the institute for students of the research programme. It may not be available to students of the MTech programmes. We expect to provide full support to students of the research programmes during their research work. 27. For whom is Computational Linguistics meant?
