Cameron introduced the rst subsea choke in 1975. Since then, thousands of these highly successful chokes have been installed in varying depths around the world. Now, Cameron continues innovating, using the same basic design elements, but with one major enhancement: a proven dog and window connector that offers tremendous advantages, including smaller size, lighter weight and total vertical access with absolutely no compromise in performance.

The compact chokes unique dog and window connector uses push/pull rods to engage/disengage dogs for insert installation and retrieval, with the option of hydraulic override for disconnect. And, because it requires no horizontal access, the choke can be more centrally placed, allowing the size and weight of the Christmas tree or manifold to be greatly reduced as well. Everything about this revolutionary compact design simplies installation requirements, making it possible to take advantage of smaller, more readily accessible installation vessels.

The new Cameron retrievable-insert choke features increased trim cavity and annular area for reduced ow velocity and more uniform uid presentation to trim. Several cage-style trims are available, including Plug and Cage for reverse and forward ow and maximum Cv; External Sleeve, for increased erosion resistance; and Water Injection Multi-Stage, the choice for long-term operation in cavitation-sensitive conditions and reverse ow applications.

Camerons reliable Subsea Stepping Linear Choke Assembly (SSLCA) actuator, comprehensively tested and qualied to 10,000 feet water depth, powers the new compact choke. The number of actuation pulses can be halved on the open or closed cycles independently, providing the choice of greater control or faster operation.
