MEETS EURo 5. The Volvo d7 engine in Volvo B7R and B7RlE uses common rail diesel fuel injection technology for high efficiency, low emissions and low noise. The d7 complies with Euro 5 and EEV (Enhanced Environmental friendly Vehicle) emission requirements but is also available in versions to suit Euro 4 and Euro 3.

This is the foundation for efficient, economical transport as both operating costs and emissions are low. RESponSiVE. The Volvo d7 achieves high torque over a wide engine speed range. This means a quick take-off from standstill, good low-rev pulling power and plenty in reserve for acceleration.

ClEan and fUEl-EffiCiEnT WiTH SCR. The Volvo d7 is designed to give high efficiency and low levels of particulate emissions. To reduce emissions of nitrogen oxides (nox), Volvo uses SCR (Selective Catalytic Reduction) exhaust aftertreatment. SCR enables the engine to be tuned to improve fuel efficiency further. Customers who have chosen Volvo Buses with SCR have seen fuel consumption improve by as much as 17 percent compared to earlier generation buses without SCR.

MaTCHEd dRiVElinE. low fuel consumption is not just a matter of the engine: all the elements of the driveline contribute to a wellmatched driveline. The Volvo d7 is available with manual and automatic gearbox options.

Safe on the road

The statistics speak for themselves: going by bus is one of the safest ways of travelling. for us at Volvo, safety is one of our guiding principles, just as it was when we started more than 80 years ago.

REdUCEd BRaking diSTanCE. Volvo EBS (Electronic Braking System) increases safety and helps reduce braking distance. The system monitors data including acceleration, steering wheel input and individual wheel speeds to adjust braking effort at each axle. if the electronic system should fail, EBS is fully backed up by a parallel system comprising two pneumatic circuits. The Volvo EBS is available with different functions. for tourist coach versions of the B7R, ESp (Electronic Stability program) is an option. ESp significantly reduces the risk of the vehicle rolling over or leaving the road in a turn, under normal conditions or when roads are slippery.

inTElligEnT ElECTRoniCS. The B7Rs multiplex system includes many diagnostic functions to assist with rapid faultfinding. Coolant level, oil level and pressure, air pressure, turbo boost amongst other data are monitored by the control system. The multiplex system is configured to connect easily to body electrical systems.

poWERfUl BRakES. The Volvo B7R and B7RlE are easy to drive and have good road-holding; like all Volvo buses, safety is designed-in. The vehicles have Volvos powerful disc brakes with EBS. EBS offers several safety and comfort features such as Hill Start aid and Brake Blending. When making a hillstart, the brakes remain applied for a few seconds after the driver releases the foot brake to prevent rollback before the accelerator is pressed. Similarly, the brake blending function combines service brakes, retarder and engine brake in the best way for a given braking requirement.

HElpS THE dRiVER dRiVE SafEly. The drivers environment in Volvo B7R and B7RlE is laid out ergonomically with an easy-grip steering wheel and conveniently positioned controls and instruments. The dash board features large, legible instruments and a large display for driver information. all placed so that the driver is able to concentrate fully on the task and perform safely and effectively.

poWERfUl RETaRdER. The compact retarder, offered with the manual gearbox, is a powerful auxiliary brake which can do much of the routine braking to reduce wear and enhance safety.

flaT flooR. Volvo B7R can be bodied with a flat floor and with the luggage space located in the wheelbase.
