HOW PRESIDENT OBAMAS FIGHTING FOR YOUNG AMERICANS

Young people helped bring President Obama to office in 2008. But what has he done for us? Heres a list:

President Obama signed the Affordable Care Act into law, which allows young adults to stay on their parents insurance plan until they are 26 years old. It will help an estimated 12.1 million young adults gain coverage once all of its provisions are implemented. In just the first year of the laws implementation, nearly 1 million young adults gained health coverage. By doubling funding for Pell Grants and eliminating billions of dollars in federal subsidies to banks acting as middlemen, President Obama has made a college education more accessible and affordable for millions of students. President Obama signed into law $2 billion in grants to community colleges to give unemployed workers access to career training programs. Under the Obama administration, people who have gone into public service and work in fields like teaching, nursing, and the armed forces will have their student loans forgiven after 10 years if they make their payments on time. Income-based repayments on federal student loans will be capped at 10% of income. President Obama took office in the middle of a financial crisis and took action to pass the Recovery Act to get the economy moving again. Now, the President is working to strengthen the middle class by investing in education, promoting the clean energy jobs of the future, and revitalizing the American manufacturing industry. President Obama signed the CARD Act into law, which protects young people from credit card company abuse. One major provision bans companies from marketing to students on college campuses. President Obama signed the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act into law, which helps workers file claims against age and gender wage discrimination. President Obama helped repeal Dont Ask, Dont Tell. LGBT men and women are now able to serve their country without hiding who they are. President Obama signed into law one of the largest expansion of wilderness protections in decades. His administration has invested hundreds of millions in clean energy technology research, and the President announced historic new fuel efficiency standards that will nearly double vehicles fuel economy by 2025. The President is ending the war in Iraq and is committed to bringing the war in Afghanistan to a responsible end.
