Weekly Update!
Report cards are coming out this Wednesday!

IB SENIORS: Don't forget (how could anyone forget?) that Extended Essay turn-in
day is this Friday, October 31! Remember to send your essay to turnitin.com and
triple-check your paper (all three hard copies) according to the yellow
checklist. And, since it's going to be Halloween, "don't" dress up based on your
awesome essay!

This week's agenda:

Monday -

Pre-IB Chemistry I (Mrs. Nagel) - The test on chapter five is today.


Pre-IB Chemistry I (Mrs. Smith) - There is a test on Chapter Five: study the
notes taken in class as well as her assigned chapter review. She is also
collecting or checking the review today.
IB Theatre I (Mrs. Brooks) - We will be starting the "waiting room" scenes.

AP Calculus BC (Mr. Bobbitt) - The homework from Sections 5.6 - 5.8 from the
calculus book and the Practice AP problems will be due.
AP U.S. History (Mr. Rose) - The study questions from Chapter 14 of the
textbook will be due for discussion.
AP Chemistry (Mrs. Smith) - The outline on Chapter 7 of the textbook will be
due.

IB Theatre II (Mrs. Brooks) - Hopefully you Portfolio people have been doing
research this weekend, because we'll be collaborating again today!
Tuesday -

IB Pre-Calculus (Mrs. Li) - There will be a test on ellipses, hyperbolas, and


parabolas from Chapter 9.
AP European History (Mr. Bullington) - There will be a test on the
Reconstruction of France, the Politiques, 30 Years' War, the Balance of Power,
the Netherlands, and the Stuarts of England. Be sure to review the lecture
notes and assigned reading: Sections 15-19 in the Palmer and Colton.
AP English Language and Composition (Ms. Harvilchuck) - The recitation of the
first eighteen lines of the prologue of the Canterbury Tales is due today.
IB Chemistry III (Mrs. Nagel) - Test on SN1, SN2, and free-radical reactions
and mechanisms. There will be a study guide up tomorrow night.
Wednesday -

AP Calculus BC (Mr. Bobbitt) - We will be having a test on Chapters 4 and 5


from the calculus book [edit: Excluding inverse trig functions!].
Thursday -

AP Calculus BC (Mr. Bobbitt) - The review on Periodic Functions will be due.


Friday -

AP Biology (Ms. Bidwell) - The test on photosynthesis is today.


AP European History (Mr. Jones) - There is a quiz today on John Locke's The
Second Treatise of Government.

Weekly Update!
It's time for the first week of the second quarter! Freshmen, congratulations on
making it this far. :D

This week's agenda:

Monday - TEACHER PLANNING DAY (NO SCHOOL)

Tuesday -

IB Chemistry III (Mrs. Nagel) - The two arrow diagrams/webs, showing the
different kinds of organic reactions (the template is on one of the green
syllabus sheets) are due today.
AP Calculus BC (Mr. Bobbitt) - The homework from Sections 5.2 - 5.5 and 7.7
from the calculus book will be due.
AP Chemistry (Mrs. Smith) - The homework and outline from Chapter 6 will be
due. We will also be having a test on Chapter 6.
AP European History (Mr. Jones) - The extra credit reaction papers are due
today. Be sure that each paper follows all the guidelines.
AP English Language and Compostion (Ms. Harvilchuck) - There will be a quiz of
some kind on the Canterbury Tales reading. Make sure you have read up to line
319.
Algebra II Honors (Mr. Bobbitt) - There will be a nine weeks test tomorrow.

Wednesday -

IB English IV (Mrs. Benson) - 1200-word paper on three of Frost's poems is due


today
AP English Literature and Composition (Mr. Murray) - The questions on Chapter
4 of The Power of Myth will be due. In addition, the ten bullets and five
student-written questions on Chapter 2 of the same book will be due.
AP Chemistry (Mrs. Smith) - The specific heat lab will be due. Make sure to
follow the IB rubric..
Thursday -

AP Calculus BC (Mr. Bobbitt) - The review on Non-Right Angle Trigonometry will


be due along with the Practice AP problems given out on Tuesday.

Friday -

AP Biology (Ms. Bidwell) - The cellular respiration lab is due today.


IB World Geography (Mr. Sutton) - We will be having a quiz on natural
resources. Study your notes!
IB Theatre I (Mrs. Brooks) - The sense memory exercise on colors and noticing
new things will be due.

AP English Literature and Composition (Mr. Murray) - We will be having a


practice APELit exam that will serve as a diagnostic. It will not count as an
actual grade.
AP Chemistry (Mrs. Smith) - The homework on Chapter 7 will be due.

IB English IV - Frost Test

Yes, there are almost no literary devices discussed. The websites listed at the
end help with that. Just look for the usual ones--and notice the simple mnemonic
(heh, mnemone-ic) device for synechdoche (Mrs. Benson=source of that).

Homecoming Week Schedule!
Hi this is the schedule for homecoming week so that no one shows up wearing
orange for Wild Animal Wednesday instead of World Hunger Thursday. Remember,
school dress codes apply!

Monday - Today is Maui Monday make sure and wear Hawaiian print and/or Hawaiian
pieces, such as a lei or a grass skirt over your shorts!

Tuesday - Today is Tacky Tuesday! Get as fun and tacky as you want!

Wednesday - Today is Wild Animal Wednesday, dress as your favorite jungle


animal!

Thursday - Today is World Hunger Thursday! Wear orange to show your support!

Friday - Today is School Spirit Friday! Show your support of Pensacola High
School by wearing your school colors! Wear tiger earrings, tiger print
headbands, even tiger print backpacks!

Weekly Update!
Hi, everyone! Time for another exciting week! This week, October 13-17 is
Homecoming week! There will be a separate update for that. Now here is your
school week.

Monday -
Attention everyone interested: Rhodes college (Memphis) will be in the IB office
from 8:30 to 9:30 am. I think WashU is visiting today, too.

IB English IV (Mrs. Benson) - Frost test today! See the study guide above!
AP Calculus BC (Mr. Bobbitt) - Homework from Sections 4.3 to 5.1 of the
calculus book (as opposed to the HL book) is due today.
AP English Language and Composition (Ms. Harvilchuck) - There is a test today
on phrases in grammar. Be sure to have all of the prepositions, phrasal
prepositions, auxiliary verbs, linking verbs, and noun/adjective/adverb
questions.

AP World History (Mr. Rose) - Remember to bring your book because he is having
a substitute and we can work on our Study Question
Geometry Honors (Mr. Naes) - We are having the test on Chapter 4 and turning
in our notecards with the definitions, postulates (skip the Ruler Postulate
and the Protractor Postulate), Theorems, and Corollaries.

Tuesday -

Geometry Honors (Mr. Naes) - We are having an FCAT assessment.


Wednesday -

IB English IV (Mrs. Benson) - Oral reports on Conrad and the Congo, etc.,
start today. Section one of Heart of Darkness due, typed. NOTE: On part A of
the guide, #5 has an error: "Marlow's interruption by" should be "interruption
of."
Geometry Honors (Mr. Naes) - We are turning in our notebooks.

Thursday -

AP Calculus BC (Mr. Bobbitt) - The review on the unit circle (odd problems) is
due today.
AP Biology (Ms. Bidwell) - There is a test on Chapter Nine: Cellular
Respiration. While it is not necessary to memorize every single intermediate
molecule and enzyme in glycolysis and cellular respiration, recognize key
molecules and know the inputs/outputs of each stage.
Geometry Honors (Mr. Naes) - We are having the 9 weeks test which replaces our
lowest test grade. We are also turning in our tessellations.
Pre-IB Chemistry I (Ms. Smith) - We are having a test on Chapter 4. Remember
that you can bring in extra credit information about quantum theory throughout
the week.

Friday -
IB English IV (Mrs. Benson) - Have Heart of Darkness read
IB Pre-Calculus (Ms. Li) - The nine-weeks test is today. This test replaces
your lowest test grade, so be prepared!

Weekly Update!
It's time for yet another exciting week of IB! SENIORS - Monday, 6 October is
the deadline for voter registration in Florida. If you are eligible to vote and
wish to vote in the general election this November, hurry and register!

This week's agenda:

Monday -
IB Pre-Calculus (Mrs. Li) - The Investigating the Quadratic Function portfolio
is due today. This is worth fifteen percent of your grade, so be sure to
fulfill all the requirements.
AP English Literature and Composition (Mr. Murray) - We will be expected to
have read Chapters 1 and 3 of The Power of Myth.

AP Calculus BC (Mr. Bobbitt) - The homework from Sections 4.1 and 4.2 of the
Calculus book will be due.
AP Chemistry (Mrs. Smith) - The green crystal lab will be due. Be sure to
follow the IB rubric. The worksheet on organic chemistry will also be due.
AP European History (Mr. Jones) - The study questions for sections sixteen,
The Thirty Years' War, will be due today. Be sure to complete the
identifications.
Pre-IB Spanish II (Sra. Martelli) - For those of you who did not take the
vocabulary quiz last Friday, remember to memorize 10 vocabulary words from the
packet in order to be prepared to take the quiz tomorrow.
Tuesday -

IB Theatre I (Mrs. Brooks) - Chrissa's group will begin their devised Commedia
performance.

AP U.S. History (Mr. Rose) - We will be taking the multiple-choice part of the
Chapters 10-12 test. Be sure to read the chapters and study your notes.
AP Human Geography (Mr. Sutton) - There is a test today on everything we have
covered so far.

AP Biology (Ms. Bidwell) - There is a test today on the parts of a cell, cell
transport and membranes, and mitosis.
Pre-IB French II (Mme. May) - Orals are today.

Wednesday -

IB Spanish III (Sr. Alemañy) - We will be having a test on Capítulo 2. Be sure


to look back over the chapter and study your notes.
IB Theatre I (Mrs. Brooks) - My group will begin our devised Commedia
performance.
AP U.S. History (Mr. Rose) - We will be taking the free-response part of the
Chapters 10-12 test. Yet again, be sure to read the chapters and study your
notes to prepare.
Pre-IB French II (Mme. May) - There is a test today on chapter two.

Thursday -

IB Pre-Calculus (Mrs. Li) - There will be a test today on chapter four.


AP English Literature and Composition (Mr. Murray) - The Unit 5 work from
Vocabulary Workshop will be due for a completion grade.

AP Calculus BC (Mr. Bobbitt) - The review on Counting and the Binomial Theorem
will be due.
AP European History (Mr. Bullington) - There is a test on sections 11-14 from
the Palmer and Colton. Remember to review lecture notes!
Friday -

AP English Literature and Composition (Mr. Murray) - We will be having a test


on Unit 5 from Vocabulary Workshop.
AP Calculus BC (Mr. Bobbitt) - Calculator labs #1, 2, and 4 will be due. All
of them will count together as one test grade.
AP Biology (Ms. Bidwell) - The mitosis lab is due today.

AP English Language and Composition (Ms. Harvilchuck) - There is a test today


on phrases.
IB Latin III (Dr. Robbins) - There is a test today.
Pre-IB Spanish II (Sra. Martelli) - There is a vocabulary quiz! This week,
memorize ten verbs from the vocabulary packet.
Pre-IB Chemistry I (Mrs. Nagel) - There will be a test today on chapter four.
Geometry Honors (Mr. Naes) - The FCAT Diagnostic is due today!!
