An edutainment project that utilizes a simulator ride to create the sensation of being immersed as a killer whale swimming through

the wild.

The Idea
Christopher Porter worked in the public aquarium industry for over 21 years. Through his work providing a live alternative to dolphin hunters in the Solomon Islands, he became one of the most controversial dolphin suppliers in the world. In 2010 he created Free The Pod, a program designed to challenge both the aquarium industry and the animal activist organizations to work together to release 17 dolphins back into the wild. Facing scepticism from both sides, the project was not a success. Despite this his passion to work in engaging the general public to build a better wild was not diminished. Wild Captivation is his idea to entertain, educate and provide a viable tool of conservation for wild animals without keeping them captive.

Project Expertise
Adam Ravetek and Sarah Robertson are the husband and wife team behind the visually stunning new lm, Artic Tale. Adam (an underwater cinematographer and naturalist), and Sarah (a writer, lmmaker, and founder of Arctic Bear Productions) created Arctic Tale after 15 years of patiently courting the frozen North.

Patrick Harris is the owner and operator of Simworx LLC. Patrick has designed and built simulators for decades. He is one of the pioneers of simulator rides and his projects have been featured at NASA, US Army and numerous venues around the world.

Captivity
Tillikum, a male orca, has spent 28 years of his life in captivity. He has been responsible for 3 human deaths. Something that is unheard of in the wild. Christopher Porter trained Tillikum 21 years ago in Victoria, B.C. His attack on one of his trainers in February 2010, solidied his change of heart to move away from the captive industry. Porter states , Tillikum is not a killer, he reacts as many of us would in a life of limited choices and forced structure. I always thought his sacrice was to help wild killer whales. Finding out kiler whales are starving off the coasts of B.C. and Washington State shows me his sacrice is not helping wild animals.

Protests of Animal Captivity continues to increase around the world.

The public is looking for an evolution of Killer Whales behind glass.

Whale Watching
Whale watching has now been reported as a potential threat to wild killer whales. People believe that the animals spend less time foraging while avoiding the increased amount of whale watching tours on the waters. Christopher Porter trained Tillikum 21 years ago in Victoria, B.C. New laws are being enforced to make people have to stay further away.

Boat collisions have contributed to increase deaths of orcas

Mobile Message
The test phase of the concept will be a mobile conservation campaign across North America. The entire project can be towed behind a standard one tonne truck. This allows the message to be taken to schools, fairs, special events, concerts, benets and provide an unique mobile protest through entertaining the public.

The Future
Harp seals and the annual Canadian slaughter of them is a highly debated issue.
