OVERVIEW: The Mustangs on the Move program provides enrichment activities to students at John Muir High School in Pasadena, California. The Neighborhood Partnership Program at Occidental College is a partner of Mustangs on the Move program by providing after school tutoring and homework assistance as well as managing a computer lab. This program not only serves as a basis to increase academic achievement but also provides a safe space for students to congregate after school. We welcome all qualified applicants to submit their resumes. Though the position is targeted to graduate school students with an interest in K - 12 education and educational outreach programs, we will consider any applicant with an interest in helping students succeed academically. RESPONSIBILITIES: Under the supervision of the Director of Neighborhood Partnership Program, the Program Assistant helps coordinate the day-to-day operations of the Mustangs on the Move after school tutoring program. Responsibilities include: Implement and supervise tutoring program at assigned school. Supervise college student tutor coordinator. Assist in coordinating support for each sites training schedules and procedures. Recruit high school students to attend the program. Maintain records of participation and the results of that participation. Help collect data on students served by the program. Working knowledge of excel necessary. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications: QUALIFICATIONS: The ideal candidate for this position must have a Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of experience and education and experience working with a team. The candidate must demonstrate competency in the following areas: Public speaking and group facilitation skills; strong organizational skills, especially data management and monitoring heavy email activity; event planning and promotion; ability to encourage and empower others to lead and contribute to the program. Experience working with African-American students. Candidate must have a drivers license and car.
