[Build-up Welding Method]

Build-up welding should be conducted according to the procedures and methods noted below: 1. Preparation . Fullyclean oils,foreign all material, scales and . Remove cracks surface all and treatment layers . Beveling: comersections or above 3R 2. Build-up Welding Rod . NAK-W (for bothNAK 55 andNAK 80) 3. Pre-heating . 300to 400"c ' Gradually heatwith furnace propane, natural bumer gas or , 4. Welding . DC normalpolarity,backward welding ' Conditions: diameter Cunent Argon i Roddiameter Electrode ) m 1.6 m m | 1.6 m 7 0 - 1 5 0 . 4 6-9t!lmin. I 2.4 150-250 7-t0 \ 2.4 ) 5. Post-heating .450-500"Cx1H

IPrecautions]
. If pre-heating and postheatingare conducted with a propane or natural gas burner, the entire body should be heatedto prevent cracking. . When repairing cracks which have occurred during buildup wilding or during use, large deposits often appear. In such cases, even though there may be slight sacrificing of dimensional changes, it is still often necessary to relieve strain immediatelyafter welding (at 870'C) and to conductaging processing (from 500 to 520"C).

[Precautionsfor Use]
Both NAK 55 and NAK 80 have a variety of features for use as materials for plastic molds. However, it should be noted that NAK 55, in particular, is slightly inferior to alloy steel in toughness. Thus, to use the special characteristicsof NAK 55 to their maximum effect, it is a good idea to consider measuressuch as the use of other types of steel inserted at the thin rising sections,or the addition of an arc to the corners of the rising sectionsfrom the initial design stages.
