C: Reflection and Evaluation Rubric


Description of IICS MYP Music Criteria C Reflection Guidelines
Aesthetic Aesthetic reflections are based on your personal feelings or reactions to your own art or the art of others and your feelings about your personal growth as an artist. These reflections do not have to be based in fact and can describe what you think or feel rather than what you know. Procedural These reflections include information based on the process you went through from point A to point B. These reflections can include strategies, attempts, failures, successes, plans, consequences, and plans for future the future based on your experiences. Analytical Analytical reflections center around reflecting on your work based upon knowledge of other artists, historical/Cultural influences, or other concrete knowledge about your artistic discipline. These reflections should help explain what you know about your artistic discipline in relation to your work. You can compare your work to other artists, explain a convergence of styles in your art, or otherwise demonstrate how knowledge has influenced your artistic process. This type of reflection is differentiated with Criteria A in that Criteria A asks that you know without asking you to apply that knowledge to your own artistic journey.

Your thoughts are presented unclearly in some cases and/or with little depth. Your reflection contains many factual inaccuracies and/or is employed inappropriately. You make no mention of how this knowledge informs and explains your artistic process. Your thoughts are presented highly lacking or unclear in many cases and/or with no depth. You failed to meet any of the qualifications for this category.

Aesthetic You clearly address your feelings behind your art or other stimulus. You clearly address your own artistic growth. Your reflections indicate great depth of thought and are clearly communicated. You address your feelings behind your art or other stimulus. You address your own artistic growth. Your reflections indicate some thought and are clearly communicated. You make some mention of your feelings behind your art, other stimulus or your own artistic growth. Your reflections indicate some perfunctory thoughts without achieving great depth. You may have some communication issues. You make very little mention of your feelings behind your art, other stimulus, or artistic growth. Your reflections indicate surface level thoughts and there are issues with clear communication. You failed to meet any of the qualifications for this category.
