Advantages The Hordaphos CC grades have some advantages over organic and inorganic acids: They can be used generally as base components with high cleaning performance and high limescale-dissolving power in cleaners for acid cleaning. Owing to their good wetting action they require only small additions of surfactants to fine-tune the cleaner. The corrosion rates on metallic and non-metallic materials are lower. The low toxicity values should also be highlighted, as they are an important criterion for cleaners in food contact applications. They are highly resistant to both acids and alkalis. They are low-foaming. They are unaffected by hard water and are also highly resistant in electrolyte solutions. Their colorlessness also makes them suitable for use in clear formulations. Properties The Hordaphos CC grades are acid, water-white liquids. They are miscible in all proportions with polar and hydrophilic solvents e.g. water, alcohols, esters and ketones. They are not miscible with nonpolar solvents such as benzene, toluene and petroleum ether. A substantial amount can however be incorporated by adding suitable surface-active substances. The Hordaphos CC grades are fully compatible with these. The viscosity of the Hordaphos CC grades is greatly dependent on the temperature. The viscosity lies in the low to medium range. No crystallization or demixing occurs at temperatures down to 30 C. At elevated temperatures, however, signs of decomposition occur with separation of the organic component. Compared to phosphoric acid the Hordaphos CC grades have higher solubility product for various salts e.g. iron. This prevents the formation of whitish-yellow precipitates. Hordaphos CC grades cause less corrosion than mineral acids to metal surfaces.
Uses Hordaphos CC grades are highly suitable for the manufacture of wide range of cleaners: Cleaning of equipment and plant in the food processing industry Cleaning in the household sanitary sector Cleaning of facades Cleaning of ceramic coatings Cleaning of painted surfaces Cleaning of aluminum surfaces Cleaning of glass surfaces Use as rinse aid

What is Hordaphos 122? Hordaphos 122 is a phosphate ester based on long chain alkylpolyclycoles. Hordaphos 122 for cleaning Hordaphos 122 is used in liquid wool and light-duty detergents for hand and machine washing in the temperature range between 30 and 40 C. It has been demonstrated in this application that formulations with fairly high electrolyte contents in combination with Hordaphos 122 reduce the felting shrinkage of the washed article, give it antistatic properties and have a softening effect. Additional treatment of the washed article with fabric softener is not necessary, regardless of whether hard or soft water has been used for washing. As a result the wearer comfort and handle of the clothing is improved. Hordaphos 122 also acts as a foam regulator in these formulations. The properties of Hordaphos 122 as an antistatic agent and detergent booster as well as its excellent emulsifying action for water in chlorinated hydrocarbons and benzine are also used in dry cleaning. What is Hordaphos MDST? Hordaphos MDST is a phosphate ester based on long chain alcohol. Application Hordaphos MDST is used in detergents as a foam regulator. It acts as a foam regulator even at elevated temperatures. Excessive foam generation has to be prevented because of its adverse effect on machine performance, resulting in reduced detergency and cleaning action. The best foam-regulating effect with Hordaphos MDST is achieved at the temperature range of 60 90 C. Additions of 0.5 to 1 % Hordaphos MDST considerably reduce the foam generation of a detergent formulation in the washing machine above 70 C, and so even in soft water areas the risk of excessive foaming is eliminated. Great importance is attached to the incorporation of the phosphoric acid ester in the detergent formulation. In the case of hot-sprayed washing powders the best foam regulation is achieved not by adding the phosphoric acid ester direct to the detergent slurry but by adding it later, for example by spraying it in molten form or dissolved in the surfactant mixture. What is Hordaphos MDST? Hordaphos is a phosphoric acid ester based on long-chain alcohols. Hordaphos MDST as thickener Hordaphos MDST can dependent on Concentration, pH-value, temperature and stirring options turn aqeous solutions from low-viscosity to shatter resistant. Therefore both the aqueous solution and Hordaphos MDST are heated to 60-80C, the phosphoric acid ester is added to the solutions. The mixture has to be stirred as long as room temerature is reached. Only then the thickening effect occurs. With increasing concentration according to the desired thickening between 1 and 5 % and decreasing pH-value the thickening effect is increasing.
