Guidance Department 2011/12 Seniors: BRIGHT FUTURES website will open on Dec 1, 2011 for seniors with a 2.6 unweighted gpa and currently taking weighted courses. To apply to all state of Florida scholarships. Students may register @ www.FloridaStudentFinancialAid.org and click on State Grants, Scholarships & Applications. Then click the icon Initial State Student Application. Lastly, click Proceed to Application. HAVE YOU TAKEN THE SAT/ ACT? THE TIME IS NOW! These scores are needed to show all 2 yr. and 4 yr. colleges that you are college ready. FSCJ defines college ready as a score of 460 on SAT Reading and Math and a 17 in English, 19 in Math and a 18 in Reading on ACT. If you are not college ready then you must take remedial courses at FSCJ which cost money and are not credit earning. Also SAT /ACT SCORES can be used as concordant scores in place of the FCAT requirement for graduation. The concordant scores are:
Reading/Verbal SAT - 420 ACT 18 Math Section SAT - 340 ACT - 15

KFC Colonels Scholars is looking for seniors with a 2.75 GPA, enrolling in a public college /university in their state, be a U.S. citizen and demonstrate financial need and entrepreneurial spirit. Awards are up to $20,000 for tuition, fees, textbooks, room and board. Applications are available @ www.kfcscholars.org. Website available from Dec. 1 through Feb. 8, 2012 3. Burger King Scholars Program is offering several scholarships to seniors and employees who have at least a 2.5 unweighted GPA and plan to attend a 2 or 4 year college. Application available from Nov. 15 through Jan. 10.2012 www.haveityourwayfoundation.org Deadline: Jan. 10, 2012. 4. The Jacksonville Commitment is open to students who are Florida residents, eligible for free and reduced lunch and Pell Grant and have been accepted to one of the four postsecondary partner schools: Edward Waters College, Jacksonville University, University of North Florida and Florida State College of Jacksonville. The application is online @ www.jacksonvillecommitment.org This scholarship should be completed in the fall of your senior year.

ACT Test Prep Class Dates: January 10-March 1 (8wks)Time: 3:00-4:00 p.m., Tuesday and/or Thursday Price: $95.00 for both sections or $65.00 for 1 (includes curriculum) Registration: Beginning November 29 in main office, 4:00-7:30 p.m. continuing Monday-Thursdays through January 5. The PLAYERS Championship First Generation Scholarship is offering a $2,000 scholarship to first generation college seeking seniors who are accepted to UNF, eligible for Pell Grant and show financial need. The National Co-Op Scholarship Program offers 155 merit scholarships to seniors with a 3.5 unweighted gpa who have been accepted to one of the WACE Partner institutions. Applications are online @ www.co-op.edu.Deadline: Feb. 15, 2012. 8. The 2012 Universal Teen Scholarship Program is offering scholarships to both male and females participants who are currently enrolled in high schools in the First Coast area. Orientation with parents is on Saturday, Jan. 7, 2012 at 2 pm is required. Pick up applications in the Guidance Department. Deadline: Dec. 16, 2011. 9. Chartwells Thompson School Dining Services has two scholarships available to seniors 1)will award a onetime meal plan scholarship to a senior who has been accepted to a historically black college.
