Goal
The goal of Be the Link International (BTLI) Junior Delegate camp is to help youth realize how policies are developed and how to be an agent of positive change globally and domestically. Junior delegates will read from the New York Times and Detroit Free Press, review interviews and movies that relate to global and domestic affairs. Students will gain knowledge on community development, international history, conflict resolution, strategy, analytical writing, etiquette and diplomacy.
Requirements
No prior academic knowledge is necessary, however the interest and motivation to engage in an academic, social and diplomatic setting is required. Students will choose topics of interest and apply them to their project such as public health, international development, environmental issues, agriculture and trade. They will work in groups and also give their opinions on current events. Assignments will be given daily for them to complete at home. Towards the end of the two-week session, students will present their topic during their presentation and also pose a solution for a domestic and global issue.
