Important Rains For Center-South


Parts of center-south in Brazil (S Mato Grosso through Mato Grosso do Sul) have been dry over the past week and dry weather will continue for another 4-5 days across most this region.

Relative dry pocket to continue next 4-5 days.

Frontal rains are moving across N Argentina today and scattered storms continue from NW to SE Brazil (see map insert at right of next 4 days). Dry weather will continue over center-south for a few more days.

Below normal rainfall and net drying has been seen since the last heavy rains of November 16 and 21 across center-south, from southern Mato Grosso through Mato Grosso do Sul, W Sao Paulo and S Goias.

Recent rains (Nov 29 shown) have been heaviest in N Mato Grosso, N Goias into Minas Gerais, but have recently been missing much of center south, particularly in Mato Grosso do Sul. Vegetation was aided (map of Nov 26) with the heavy rains of Nov 16 and 21, but still show show worse than last year conditions across parts of center south.

7 day rain totals (ending Nov 26) were minimal in extreme S Mato Grosso and N Mato Grosso Do Sul (in mm), while heavy to the north, south and east of the region.

10 day rain totals will be the heaviest in N and W Argentina and from NW to northern SE Brazil. Beneficial rains will reach center-south early next week, not before another 4-5 days of drying is seen. 10 day totals will be the least across South Brazil.

The next 10 daysrains return to center south, continue in NW to SE Brazil.
