- Call for Proposals Indonesian Institutions of Higher Learning to Host an English Language Fellow for 2012-2013

Deadline: Friday, November 18, 2011

The Public Affairs Section at the Embassy of the United States of America in Jakarta invites all Indonesian institutions of higher learning to submit proposals for hosting an English Language Fellow (ELF) for a 10-month assignment, September 2012 - June 2013, to assist in developing and improving the institutions English language programs. An ELF is an American educator with both prior teaching experience and a graduate degree in English language teaching or related educational field. The English Language Fellow (ELF) program is supported by the Regional English Language Office (RELO). One of the RELOs primary goals is to enrich English language teaching and learning in Indonesia by supporting institutions, initiatives and projects that facilitate English language education. Indonesian institutions of higher learning are invited to submit proposals to host an English Language Fellow (ELF) for a 10-month assignment from early September 2012 until late June 2013. Each ELF is assigned through a competitive selection process based on proposals submitted by interested Indonesian institutions no later than November 18, 2011. The ELF will have a MA degree in TEFL/TESL or a related field as well as previous overseas experience in teaching and teacher training. The ELF will generally engage in classroom teaching and workshops/seminars for professional development or other institution-defined projects. Proposal Deadline: Friday, November 18, 2011 Only proposals that are complete, meet the November 18 deadline, and follow the proposal guidelines below will be given serious consideration. All proposals must be received in the Regional English Language Office by close of business on Friday, November 18, 2011. Proposals may be hand-delivered, faxed, or e-mailed to the RELO. The proposals will be reviewed by a Public Affairs selection committee. Please note that submitting a proposal to host an ELF is not a guarantee that the institution will receive an English Language Fellow. For this highly competitive program, proposals will be reviewed for institutional commitment, and projects which make the best use of an English Language Fellow. Cost Sharing: RELO and Host Institution The Public Affairs Regional English Language Office will cover the major costs of the program, including round-trip airfare from the U.S. to the designated Indonesian city, a 10-month stipend or salary for the ELF, health insurance, a small cost of living allowance, and a small professional materials allowance. For the Indonesian institution, cost-sharing is required and includes furnished accommodation for the English Language Fellow, office space and institutional responsibility for all

work/residence/visa authorizations (KITAS, MERP, STM, SKLD, POA, EPO). In previous years, host institutions have provided housing, either through a housing stipend or private furnished accommodations. The Fellow would be responsible for paying utility bills. The host institution will provide the ELF shared or private office space which will include office furniture and a computer with internet access. It is the host institutions responsibility to provide for all work/residence/visa authorizations (KITAS, MERP, STM, SKLD, POA, EPO) in a prompt and timely fashion.
