The Agency Web Sites project (AWS) was highly complex. It gave Allstate agents their own unique Web presence -one that not only provided contact information but one that also reflected their particular marketing needs. Marketing requested that HDS Interfaces modify the Customer Care Center (CCC) pre-registration process in preparation for a marketing campaign designed to increase customer traffic to the CCC. A vendor (ChoicePoint) was providing a file that contained data used for the pre-registration process. Marketing requested that the HDS Interfaces processes be changed to obtain the data from an extract file or staging table from the IMPACT application (which was populated by data received from ChoicePoint). This would eliminate redundant data purchases from ChoicePoint and would allow the extraction of data specific to the marketing campaign.

The Operational Data Store is a physical implementation of the Enterprise Logical Data Model. The data it contains is normalized and atomic level. It is implemented on an integrated relational database. It is the repository of information used to populate the Data Marts that support Operational Analysis and Operational Decision Support Systems. It is not intended to support interactive transaction processing. It contains current or near-current information that is very volatile. It requires the data be refreshed no less than once a day. It will not maintain any history or time-based information. Since its primary purpose is to supply data to the Operational Data Marts and it is based on a normalized logical model, it will not be made available for general use to users of the Decision Support System. The Consultant Variable Universal Life (VUL) product meets the need for increased life insurance with a flexible decreasing cash value and income replacement protection. A data format for structured document interchange that is more flexible than HTML. While HTML's tags are predefined, XML allows tags to be defined by the developer of the page. Thus, XML-defined Web pages can function like database records. A set of components that allows the interoperation between object technologies such as Java, Microsoft COM, and CORBA. This means that objects can be transported between different object systems (COM and Java) and different Java VMs (Microsoft's and Sun's). Use is only allowed for evaluation purposes, for a specified area and/or users within the specified time frame.
