Our competent and internationally recognised appraisals of your products and equipment, supported by a worldwide network, provide the required independent assurance towards endusers that these arrive at site, designed, manufactured or built to specifications and are in compliance with regulatory requirements where relevant.

Our approach
We offer independent verification that personnel, procedures, equipment and products meet specifications. We do this by applying risk-based methodology contained in a number of service specifications for various objects, covering some or all of the following activities: Design reviews DNV perform design review to DNV standards, recognised codes and standards, project specifications and operator performance standards. This includes EC directives on all types of equipment intended for use offshore. Design review is produced for specific jobs (case approval), or if the intention is to manufacture several over a period of time (type approval, valid for 4 years). Fabrication surveys Fabrication surveys are based upon criticality (e.g. energy content, hazardous nature of fluids, structural importance) of equipment, statutory, class or flag requirements to third-party and operator or vendor preference. Manufacturing survey arrangements Manufacturing survey arrangements are available to clients with type approved products. An

MSA reduces the level of DNV involvement in the production processes. This may be established for companies with ISO 9000 systems and after a successful Manufacturer product quality assessment. Manufacturer product quality assessment Manufacturer product quality assessments are a new quality rating system that audits manufacturing process from the shop floor. The assessment can also be used on behalf of a client on new or existing vendors. Survey schemes Survey schemes are used for all types of equipment intended for offshore use, whether owned by an operator or service company. The equipment may be surveyed to a survey scheme agreed with DNV and the equipment owner. Welding procedures, welder qualification DNV performs expert witnessing and approval of welding procedures and can assess welders to recognized standards.

Products covered
We provide our services for the following products/objects: Offshore containers The certification of offshore containers can be assessed to comply with the following: DNV Standard 2.7-1, 2.7-2 and 2,7-3 DNV Rules for Planning and Execution of Marine Operations BS EN12079 IMO Circ 860 NORSOK Z015. Hazardous area equipment Equipment can be certified to the following: Zone 2 Diesel engines to EEMUA 107, OCMAMEC 1 & BS EN 1834-1: 2000 Zone 1 & 2 Electrical Equipment ATEX.

Lifting appliances
DNV rules for certification of lifting appliances can be used for cranes, lifting beams, A Frames, winches, reels, etc. Well control equipment DNV has wide knowledge and experience regarding well control equipment such as: Christmas trees/valves/manifolds Blow out preventers Drilling riser systems Wireline equipment Coiled tubing equipment Well test equipment.

Linepipes and bends Fabrication surveys can be performed at steel plate, pipe mills and bend manufacturers based on DNV OS-F101, API 5L or other internationally recognised linepipe specifications. Pressure vessels, piping and accessories The Pressure Equipment Directive is applicable to pressure vessels, piping and accessories. DNV has local resources for gap analysis and formal quality system assessment to 97/23/EC Pressure Equipment Directive and SI 2001(1999) Pressure Equipment Regulations. DNV can advise on the relevant codes and standards such as ASME VIII, PD5500 and ASME B31.3. DNV also advises on categorisation and choice assessment module. We also provide Provision & Verification of Written Schemes of Examination (WSE) and Inspection to a WSE Risk Analysis (extension of inspection intervals) according to Pressure System Safety Regulations (PSSR). Wind energy (onshore & offshore) DNV has published standards and specifications for wind turbine structures and components and for certification of tidal and wave energy converters.
