1) INTRODUCTION This method of statement is intended to describe the procedure of installing pipe sleeves that will be embedded in reinforced concrete (RC) slab. The materials of pipe sleeves used shall be as listed below:PVC pipe sleeve For floor drains at Pre Cast Slab Galvanized Carbon Steel Pipe to ASTM-A53-Sch40 For Plumbing and Drainage pipe penetration through RC slab The brand of the pipe sleeve material is Zenith, India or Surya, India (refer to submittal ref : SCMA/MAT/M063) . The sizes of pipe sleeves used ranges from DN80 to DN300 and the length of pipe sleeves shall be according to the approved Construction Drawing. Pipe sleeves shall be installed at PC yard during casting of pre-cast slab. The process adding extra layer of concrete on top of pre cast slab will be done at construction site after assembly with other structure element. For concrete slabs that are cast on site, pipe sleeves shall be installed at site before casting of concrete. 2) PLANNING STAGE a) Check followings drawings in order to identify exact location of floor drain and pipe sleeves: a) Architect drawing - Details arrangement of floor tiles. b) Structural drawing Details of beam, slab & column. c) Approved Structural Opening and Penetration drawings b) Submission of floor drains fitting and pipe sleeve material for approval from consultant and client.

3) MATERIAL a) UPVC pipe sleeve for Floor Drain b) Galvanized Carbon Steel Pipe to ASTM-A53-Sch40 for Plumbing and Drainage pipe penetration through RC slab. c) Additional rebar T10 to secure the position of pipe sleeve. d) Steel wire to fasten the pipe sleeve to avoid movement. e) Timber box up frame for floor drain. 4) MATERIALS DELIVERY a) Upon delivery of material on site, visually check for defects and specification of pipe sleeves materials. b) Unload newly delivered materials and put materials in proper storage. c) Submit Request For Inspection form to arrange for materials inspection with Consultant. d) Upon inspection, take photographs on materials delivered and submit to Consultant together with materials delivery note. 5) INSTALLATION STAGE 5.1 Pre Cast Slab 5.1.1 Marking a) Check the pre cast slab (slab tagging) to be cast and identify pipe sleeves opening position and sizes of pipe sleeves to be installed. b) Ensure condition of pre cast formwork is in clean condition. c) Mark the position of pipe sleeves according to approved Openings and Penetrations drawings. 5.1.2 Installation a) Place the pipe sleeve in between reinforcement steel bar (rebar). b) Install timber frame inside pipe sleeve with nail protruding out at top of pipe sleeve.

: c) Cover the pipe opening with tape to prevent pipe socket clog with concrete. Page 3

d) Secure the position of pipe sleeve by adding reinforcement steel bar which is similar in size with original steel bar. Firmly fasten steel wire on nail (on timber frame) and reinforcement steel bar. 5.2 Topping Up Concrete At Site a) After Pre Cast concrete slabs are assembled at site, check and ensure that pipe sleeves positions are correct at site. b) For floor drains opening, square timber frame box up shall be placed on top of uPVC pipe sleeves prior to casting of top up concrete. The size of the timber frame shall be according to the approved Construction drawing. Position of timber box up shall be marked on site with the centre of the square timber box up align with the centre of uPVC pipe sleeve. c) Firmly fasten steel wire on nail (on top timber box up frame) and reinforcement steel bar. d) Call for inspection with Consultant before proceeding with casting of concrete. 5.3 Pipe Sleeve For Concrete Slabs That Are Cast On Site a) After concrete slab formwork is ready at site, identify position of pipe sleeves according to approved Construction drawings. b) Ensure that formwork is in clean condition and mark position of pipe sleeve with marker pen on to completed formwork. c) Install steel reinforcement bar for concrete slab and cut steel bars that are crossing through pipe sleeves position. d) Put pipe sleeve into position and secure the position of pipe sleeve by adding reinforcement steel bar which is similar in size with original steel bar. e) Install timber frame inside pipe sleeve (with nail protruding out at top of pipe sleeve) and firmly fasten steel wire from timber frame to reinforcement steel bar. Cover open end of pipe sleeve with masking tape. For step by step diagram illustration of pipe sleeves installation, kindly refer to figure 1.1. 6.0 COMPLETION STAGE 6.1 Submit Request Inspection Form to arrange for inspection with consultant.
