SB/10-21-ISS/Cir/3535 28th June, 2011 Chief Executives of all Member Banks Dear Sirs/Madam, Submission of claims by banks under the MoHRD Scheme to provide Interest Subsidy on Education Loan to students belong to Economically Weaker Sections We invite your kind attention to our circulars No. SB/Cir./10-21-ISS/2739 dated 17th March, 2011 and SB/Cir/10-21-ISS/2577 dated 25th February, 2011. The MoHRD has since advised the Nodal Bank that as the Central Scheme is a continuing scheme from the year 2009-10 (commencing from 1st April, 2009), the pending claims of banks for the academic year 2009-10 may be submitted to the Ministry immediately. Further, claims pertaining to the years 2010-11 and 2011-12 be sent separately. We therefore, request banks to submit their claims to the Nodal Bank as detailed below: 1. Banks may immediately submit their pending claims for FY 2009-10 to the Ministry, through the Nodal Bank 2. Fresh claims for FY 2010-11 to be submitted separately 3. Claims pertaining to FY 2011-12 also to be submitted separately In the above context, the Nodal Bank has advised as under: 1. Banks to process the claims and submit to the Nodal Bank through dedicated web portal http://www.canarabankcsis.in 2. The web portal will be opened from 1st July, 2011 for uploading the claims by on- line mode. The web portal would be kept opened till 31st July, 2011. 3. Double claims to be avoided in case of eligible accounts 4. If claims are already made for 2009-10, claims only for 2010-11 to be made 5. If any excess claims are received by banks, the banks concerned are required to remit the excess claims directly to the Ministry of HRD ( refer para 5 of Format of letter to be obtained from banks; enclosed to IBA circular no. SB/Cir/10-21/dated 2nd July, 2010). 6. Students who have already submitted income certificate for 2009-10 need not submit certificate again

7. The eligible students who are yet to submit the Income certificate, shall submit the certificate at the branches from where they have taken the education loan 8. For any assistance, banks to contact Mr. M M Chiniwar, Asst. General Manager (PCW), Priority Credit Wing, Canara Bank, Head Office, No.112, J C Road, Bangalore 560 002. Tel No. 080-22109714. We request banks to bring to the notice of the students the above information to enable them to submit the Income Certificate in time. Banks may also consider providing adequate publicity / awareness. IBA has requested the Ministry of Consumer Affairs to create enough publicity / awareness among the student community through their publicity channel Jago Grahak Jago. As on date, 19 States / UTs have notified the competent authority for issuing the Income Certificate. Copy of updated list is enclosed.
