Career options for students and graduates who want to pursue Transition Culture –

A chance to live and work in the UK

We can introduce EU students who are Gap

Year students, or graduates, to work
opportunities and (paid) work experience in
Greece and the UK.

This offer is for those with good standards of

spoken English; self-study opportunities and
conversation classes are available on an
ongoing basis.

This offer is made for those with an interest in eco-learning, ethical enterprise
and sustainable business development, based on meeting local needs with local
products and services.

Students have the chance to combine study with

independent travel, and have the chance to work
alongside experienced mentors in the fields of Social
Enterprise in the UK.

On completion of studies, graduates have the chance

to access support and services to join an existing
local co-operative, specialising in: food and drink
services, design, language services, IT support or a
number of other service sector co-ops.

Alternatively, you have the chance to set up your

own specialist co-op, pursue an independent career,
teach, write, translate, design or enjoy career
support in your own chosen field.
We welcome specialists in the creative arts: drama, dance, music, arts and crafts
for schools, media, Social Enterprise, travel and culture.

The study programme is suitable for those who have read any of the works of:
Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi, in particular: “Good Business, Flow, Leadership and the
Making of Meaning”.

In conclusion
Nadia Johanisova’ s book “Living in the Cracks” talks
about economic alternatives to the communist and
capitalist systems and identifies social enterprise as
the "only sound basis for a truly sustainable
economy".

Nadia comments that: "Businesses which are well-rooted in their communities

and offer an ecologically sound service...are not part of the new economy if
their staff are underpaid and their owners make profits at the expense of
workers”.
