Chairperson ( Yuhanis ) Assalammualaikum and a very good morning to all of you. I am glad to welcome all members to the second meeting of the science committee SK Sungai Limau. Nice to see all of you here. We are here today to discuss about our pupils performance in science during PKSR 2 Before we begin our meeting..I just want to say thank you for coming today. Now can we call this meeting to order ?

Yes. Its been a month since our last meeting. Much has happened since then. Please refer to the agenda that has been given. As listed in the agenda, the special business items for this meeting today are : 1. Strengths and weaknesses of the pupils and the reasons. 2. The ways to overcome weaknesses. There are vital issues which the committee must deal with immediately. Solets finish with the preliminaries and get down to the main business quickly, shall we.

Yes, Mr chairperson. I would like to ask about the preparations for the week science committee. Have all the arrangements been made ? Yes, all the preparations have been made. Mr. chairperson are the date is suitable for the week science committee . Oh! I seeanyone of you can give any suggestion about the date for the week science committee. I suggest that the date for the week science committee is 14.11.2011 I agree with you. I think pupils will enjoys these activities because examination has been completed and the pupils can answer all the question very well. mmmthats a good idea. Im agree with you. It look like everyone agree with that dategreat. All rightIll get that done by Monday. I will make an announcement and paste on the science notice board about this activities.

5. SPECIAL BUSINESS
a). The strengths and weaknesses of the pupils and the reasons. Chairperson ( Yuhanis ) Secretary ( Fatimah ) If there is anything else, shall we move on? Our first item under special business today concerns the strengths and weaknesses of the pupils in Science. Please refer to the analysis. So can we discuss it? Based on this data, it shows that the year 1 pupils show the best result which is 99.09 % past among the pupils of other years. I think this is because the test paper prepared by the teachers. So teachers know how to prepare the questions based on the pupils performance. Siti Khadijah Chairperson ( Yuhanis ) Rosmaliza Refer to the analysis; it is followed by the year 3 and year 5 pupils. They also did a good job during this PKSR 2. All the year 3 pupils past their Science paper with 1.65 of the average grade subject. While for year 5 pupils, they scored 2.35 as their average grade subject. Chairperson ( Yuhanis ) Zaida Nor hayati Siti Khadijah The lowest goes to year 4 and followed by year 6 pupils. I think this is because the line test papers throughout Selangor. I dont agree. How about the year 3 and year 5 pupils? They also sit the exam with the line test papers but they can do well. I agree with you. I think this is because the test papers are quite difficult. I teach them and I have looked at the questions. The questions are tough for them. Compared to the year 3 and year 5, the questions are quite easy for them. Zaida Rosmaliza I think this is because students in year 4 and 6 are not experts in science process skills and manipulative skills of science. Im agree with you, zaida Thats good. How about the lowest? I agree with you. The year 1 pupils are school based evaluated. It is recommended by the ministry of education in the new curriculum. Thank you Ms. Fatimah and Ms. Siti. I also think pupils weak in science because attitudes of students who are lazy and do not read books. I agree with you, Fatimah. I second the motion Okay, shall we put this matter in our minutes, Ms. Fatimah? Ill do that Ms. Chairperson.

a) The way to overcome the weaknesses.

Chairperson ( Yuhanis ) Secretary ( Fatimah ) Thats fine. Thank you. Glad we manage to discuss the matter fast. Lets go on to the second item under special business the way to overcome the weaknesses. Any suggestions? As we noticed that year 4 and 6 pupils are not performed well in this PKSR 2, I suggest that year 4 and 6 pupils should be exposed with a lot of the UPSR questions and provide more exercise to students on the

mastery of science process skills and manipulative skills of science. I

think this will help them to perform well. Zaida I agree with you. I propose that teachers should prepare the sets of UPSR based questions and do with pupils in classroom and also we can invited

experts and excellent teachers in answering technical questions

Siti Khadijah Chairperson ( Yuhanis ) Nor hayati I second the motion. Is there anyone who rejects the proposal? Please raise your hands. Oh, its unanimous. So, I will bring this matter to our GPK and headmaster. So, anything else? Other suggestions? I suggest that we can do the one whole day class or camp to teach pupils on the answering Science questions technique. Especially for year 4 until year 6 pupils. I think this will help them a lot. Rosmaliza I agree with you. We can do this camp on Saturday. We also can involve the parents. So that parent know how their children performance in Science and in the science camp we also can build peer study group for pupils. Secretary ( Fatimah ) Zaida So, I propose that Answering Science Question Technique Camp or Science Camp. I second the motion.

Does anyone have any comments or proposals? Yes, Mr. chairperson. Corner for science classroom are poor. Can we do something to make it interesting. Yes. I think I agree with you Siti. I think the teachers do not have enough materials to make it interesting. Yes.I also think like you, liza Thats an interesting suggestion.WellI hope the science committee Sk Sungai Limau can contribute to make corner for science in class more interesting. Okaythats fine.I agree with your opinion.
