National Night Out

By Susan Richards Come one, come all to the Post Oak 1 HOA National Night Out event that is going to be held on Tuesday, October 4th from 5:30-9:00 p.m. at the Word of Life Church parking lot! Please leave your animal(s) at home; while we love our pets and many consider them members of the family, this is a pet-free event. This years theme is carnival so we will be serving Hot Dogs, Corn Dogs, Hamburgers, Pizza, Popcorn, Cotton Candy, Snow Cones and Funnel Cakes. In order to receive a meal ticket, you are required to bring a non-perishable food item PER PERSON that we are donating to a local food bank. This is our way of giving back to the community but having some fun at the same time! This means that if you have a family of 5, you must bring 5 non-perishable food items in order for everyone to get a meal ticket.

Raffles!
We will also be selling raffle tickets! Weve got some great raffle prizes to raffle off: Manicure/Pedicure from Deluxe Nails, Membership to AnyTime Fitness, free Zumba class/or personal training session, several baskets from local businesses (Mary Kay, Scentsy, etc). Ticket prices will be announced soon. Several local businesses will also be out there that we thought you might be interested in: Hitters Bar & Grill, The YMCA of Hays County, Great Clips, Hays Sports Zone, and others will be having booths so you can get to know them and what they can offer you in our great City of Kyle! Volunteers are needed to assist with serving food and working with the games, so if you are interested, please call 268-9370 (Susan Richards) or 395-7029 (Deb Lovell) or send us an email at postoak1hoa@gmail.com to have some fun!

There will be plenty of games and different events going on throughout the carnival. You can come and get your face painted, bounce in the bouncer house, try your skills out by throwing a football through a tire, a basketball free-throw, or kicking a soccer ball and getting a goal or do you think you have skill enough to get a ring around a bottle? For the little ones we have a variety of games that they can play as well; they can pick up a duck, or try spinning the wheel, see if they can get an apple in a basket and other assorted games. We will

Scoop the Poop! I recently heard that there is a new business niche and you can hire someone to clean up animal feces. Dog droppings are one of the leading causes of E. Coli pollution: each gram of dog poop has over 20,000,000 E. Coli colonies in it. Please be neighborly and be responsible for your own animals.

Post Oak Amenities Update

By Deborah Lovell

This years pool season started off on a bad

note and a lot of our residents were quite upset with the lack of communication concerning opening day and our monitors. We have had our share of ups and downs as you probably have been reading about.

this company and hopefully they will return next season.

We have had 3 cases where the police were

called for vandalism at the pool and amenity center. One of these was the damage done to the ladies restroom. That was $320 to fix the damages. Then we had vandals pry and destroy 1 drain cover and stole one cover in the pool on Aug.16th and then 2 more drain covers were reported for vandalism on Aug. 19th. The 3 vandalism that I have reported to the police and Real Manage has cost our residents over $1550. That doesnt sound like much to some people, but that is equal to 4.5 residents HOA dues for the year.

Opening day I was down at the amenity center

trying to get in touch with Real Manage in Austin and the main office to find out why our pool didnt open up as it should have. I made several phone calls and nobody seemed to want to return my calls. Finally the pool maintenance crew showed up and they thought they were supposed to shock the pool that day. Boy, talking about the lack of communication from Real Manage to our maintenance crews. After telling them that our pool was suppose to open up that day for Memorial Day, they called their boss and he admitted that no such communication had been relayed to him either. He in turn called Real Manage and they confirmed it and apologized for the mix up.

Since I have been very active at the pool on a

regular basis this year and have been the one that has found the damages each time, the board has asked me to be the pool chairperson in charge of contacting Real Manage and our vendors when there is a problem. I have gladly agreed to chair this position. I am part of a group that we refer to as The Bad Knee Group. We are there each morning doing our exercises for our bad knees.LOL!!!

Then, of course we had our problems with pool

monitors. Boy did we have problems. The first company had no idea what they were even suppose to do and they were letting people in without keys, in street clothes, and even NONresidents. Well, they didnt last long. Then we get our second company. They were hired on a spur of the moment, trying to get somebody in here that would do their job like they were supposed to. They were doing a good job, but they werent liked by some residents that felt they were too stiff handed and arguments began to occur between residents and the monitors. This monitoring company quit and again leaving us without pool monitors. Finally, we get a new company (Real Pool Management) hired over the weekend by Real Manage. They were well received and everyone seems to like

I am planning on getting a head start on next

years pool season with the help of some volunteers and other board members to try to insure that we dont have these problems next year. With the help of all the residents and board members, I hope we can alleviate the problems we had during the 2011 pool season.

We had water issues this year, but now have

new equipment and that should help with next years water quality also. Our pool maintenance crew has agreed to work with me BEFORE our 2012 pool season starts to try to ensure a peaceful opening.
