Introduction
PROCEDURES AND INSTRUCTIONS
You must bring the following items with you when you first sit for the Sydney Knowledge and Regulation Test. Photo ID Card completed and signed English Assessment Form Current Drivers Licence Certificate of Readiness for NSW Transport and Infrastructures Test from your training school Completed Training Workbooks 2, 8 & 9 for Module Two of the currently approved training course, declaration signed by your Registered Training Organisation (RTO). Receipt / Invoice from your Registered Training Organisation (RTO) Provided proof of eligibility passport / birth certificate or citizenship certificate. After entering the testing room, you will be asked to: Turn off your mobile phone and give it to the testing officer Hand over any bags, papers, notes, street directories etc. that you have with you (These items will be placed in a visible position.) You will be under observation by NSW Transport and Infrastructure staff during the test. Any applicant caught cheating may not be considered to be of good repute or a fit and proper person to be the driver of a public passenger vehicle and may not be permitted to re-sit the test. The testing officer will explain the procedures and ensure that you fully understand the test requirements. In the event of test booking cancellation, you must notify NSW Transport and Infrastructure and then contact your school to reschedule your test booking.
INSTRUCTIONS
This is a computer-based test. The questions you will be given are selected at random by the computer from a databank of 700 questions. The following information will appear on your screen as soon as the testing officer has logged you on. ABOUT THE TEST You have a total of 44 minutes to complete Sections 1 to 4. Section 5 is a practical street directory test, which you have 16 minutes to complete. ANSWERING QUESTIONS Please read each question carefully. To answer a question, use the <Tab> key to highlight the answer you believe is right and press the <Enter> key to select it. PRACTICE TEST There is a short practice test for you to become familiar with the types of questions and how to answer them. The practice test contains four questions selected at random. The questions do not count towards your final score, and there is no time limit on the practice questions. At the end of the Practice Test, a message will come on the screen explaining that Section 1 is about to start press the <Enter> key. PROCEDURES FOR THE TEST YOUR TEST WILL COMMENCE IMMEDIATELY. Ensure you read each question carefully and be mindful of the time as there is a time limit for each section. Note: There is a clock in the top right hand corner of the screen for your convenience. If you pass a section, you will be congratulated and can move on to the next section. If you answer more than the allowed number of questions incorrectly, you will have failed that section of the test. Press the <Enter> key and move on to the next section of the test. The first time you sit for the test you will sit for each section. After you finish Section 4, press the button on the wall and leave it on. The testing officer will test you on Section 5 Street Directory Test. You will be asked 8 questions, selected at random, and the testing officer will type your answers into the computer. At the completion of the test, you will be given your results. If you pass, you need to return to your school to complete your course. If you fail one or more sections of the test, you will be issued with a Test Report giving your results in each section. You will only be re-tested on the sections that you failed. Your school will book you in to be re-tested on those sections. When you have passed all sections of the test, you will be issued with a certificate. If you are not satisfied with the result of a test, you should discuss the matter with your nominated training school, who can then liaise with NSWTI directly. Applicants who fail to follow instructions from NSWTI staff both during, and at the conclusion of, the Sydney Knowledge Test may jeopardise their application for a taxi-cab authority.
